An affordable pump-action shotgun, the Mossberg 500 has long been a popular choice for shotgunners around the world for its simple and extremely reliable design and wide industry support. The Mossberg 500's dual action bars keep it from binding while operating the pump, as well as evenly distributing the force against the action. While some critics may comment on the iconic "Mossberg rattle," the Mossberg's loose fitment is actually by design, allowing the shotgun to let loose debris escape from the shotgun easily, rather than getting stuck in tight spaces and getting the gun locked up or slowed down. This shotgun for sale is a 12 gauge Field model with 3" chamber and 28" barrel. The magazine tube can hold up to 5 shells. Or, with easily available extensions and barrels, the shotgun can quickly and easily be reconfigured for other uses: security/riot shotguns, extended goose magazines tubes, rifled slug barrels, or shorter wieldy turkey barrels. This particular shotgun's 28" barrel has a vented serrated rib with brass midbead and white plastic front bead. The receiver is also drilled and tapped to accept scope bases and mounts. The barrel already has a simple cylinder choke tube installed, but is also compatible with Accu-choke tubes. The manual safety on the Mossberg 500—like many of their other shotguns—is ambidextrous-friendly and mounted on the rear tang of the receiver. The furniture is made of satin-finished walnut with checkering on the stock's pistol grip and beavertail forend. The butttock has an original vented rubber buttpad installed. This shotgun exhibits some light wear inside the receiver and on the black lacquered receiver finish. The barrel is free of rust and pitting and the shotgun operates smoothly.
