Taurus ~ The Judge Public Defender Poly ~ .45 Colt/.410 Bore

A Swiss Army knife of a firearm, the Taurus Judge hit the market in 2006 as the Model 4410. The revolver was derived of the Taurus Tracker line of revolvers, now with an elongated cylinder and able to accept both .45 Colt cartridges and .410 Bore shotshells. Because the barrel is rifled, the revolver is not considered a short-barrelled shotgun. Though not the first revolver to be chambered in both these cartridges (Munitions National Laboratories had the Thunder revolver, but was a flop at release), the 4410 proved to be popular as a defensive piece--notably with courtroom justices in Miami, FL. Taurus vice president Bob Morrison noted this interesting adoption by the judges that he dubbed the 4410 "The Judge" and also changed the model number to '4510' to more obviously portray its dual chambering of .45 caliber and .410 bore loads. Though most commonly known by its ominous nickname, the 4510 model number is still stamped on the frames of revolvers to date. The Judge revolver is reportedly Taurus's most popular firearm in the company lineup and now features 17 different variants, with different color options, barrel lengths, and even 3" magnum/.454 Casull Magnum models, the longer-barreled Home Defender, and lighter plastic-framed Public Defender Poly models. This Taurus Judge Public Defender Poly features a black polymer frame with matte stainless steel 5-round cylinder and 2" barrel. The Public Defender Poly is a double/single-action revolver (as is the rest of the series) with a grooved trigger and has an adjustable rear sight and red fiber optic front sight. With its polymer frame, the revolver weighs right at a pound and half unloaded, still lighter than some other steel-frame automatics. The Judge series utilizes a transfer bar system to help prevent accidental discharges with the revolver. This Judge Public Defender Poly is in fairly good condition. Everything is perfectly operable and the barrel and cylinder are in good condition. Some of the polymer frame exhibits wear neat the front of the cylinder, most likely from the escaping pressure, heat, and powder slipping between the cylinder and barrel when fired. This revolver includes the original box and user manual, as well as some small tools for maintenance.
