Berkley GulpI used the Berkley Gulp Walleye fishing at it was GREAT!!! I started out with minnows and then moved to the Gulp Alive. It worked better and stayed on the hook Jigging better than the live Minnows.

Versatile BaitI started fishing with a double rig in Nags Head for speckled trout with the larger 4" minnow as the top bait & the 3" minnow as the bottom bait. I had a fair amount of luck catching all species. The downside is that the little fish love this bait so much that you lose a lot of tails & need to put on fresh baits -- but still worth it for the fish I have been able to catch. Just recently experimented fish the 4" minnow on a drop shot rig for bass & lost a 3 pound bass at the boat on my first trip out & also caught a catfish. Going to experiment with the drop shot rig for speckled trout in the fall. This is a very versatile bait which can be used in either fresh or saltwater because it resembles a minnow.

Go to walleye jigging trailerWe have used these trailers for several years now. They seem to have the perfect fall rate when paired with a 3/8 jig head. Usually out performs other types of plastics used on the great lakes when fishing walleyes. When they split, cut off the end and use them awhile longer.

never outI have replaced live bait with 3" emerald shiners. Firstly I never am out of minnows. Secondly they never die. Third, the fish can't steal them off the hook, so my line is in the water longer. I often can use one minnow for each trip. I highly recommend them to all my friends.

great baitLet me say I love your product. I recently was on a trip with three others fishing for 4 days an caught 385 strip bass. We used the 4 in Berkley® Gulp! Alive!® Minnows – in smelt and the Chartreuse Shad. Both worked well for catching fish. The question I have is we noticed a big difference in the firmness and durability of the two. The Chartreus was much firmer and stayed on the hook better and did not get tore up as fast. Is this a difference in the make up of the bait or were the smelt possible older and had started to break down.

A great baitIf you fish pan fish this is the way to go. Works as good and better than live bait. Great for remote trips were live bait is not an option. Jigs under a weighted bobber is my favorite method!

Must haveThis is becoming a must have lure in my box. I just came back from Nickajack, were the fish were swiping at lures as opposed to slamming them. We tied on a few of these and were landing just about evrything from large skip jacks, bass, and something we lost, I suspect was a cat or a drum that spooled us.

Big WalleyesOn a recent trip to Canada I used Berkley Gulp minnows and landed big walleyes. These lures out fished all other baits. A must have on the next trip.

what is the best color to get?

Thank you for your inquiry. The best colors to use will greatly depend on what kind of water you're going to be fishing this lure in. For example, if you're fishing in muddy or murky water, use colors like Chartreuse Shad or Emerald Shiner because those are brighter and will have better visibility in that type of water. In clear water (and preferably on clear days) colors like Smelt and Black Shad work well.

How many in a Bucket?
I just used the Gulp 3" minnow's this morning that I bought by the pack. Was wondering if anyone had a rough idea of how many 4" minnows come in the Gulp Alive Bucket? Just trying to do the math before I buy them.

How do you rig these?
Tried fishing with these a few times but I get nothing. How are you guys rigging? What kind of retrieve?

Mainly on a jig head, but also Carolina Style. I also fish them in the TN river with HEAVY current. There I will fish them on a bottom drop shot rig and let the current provide the action. There are some good rigging instructions on the back of the packs.

You can but the bait is meant to be moving to get the fluttering action going. The fluttering is what attracts the fish. Bobbers can limit that fluttering action and make the bait move less naturally.
