Zoom Z3 Swamp Crawler
Like the tasty creatures that slither through the ooze, the Zoom® Z3 Swamp Crawler has a smooth, straight profile and layered coloration that bass just can't resist. Once they clamp down on this lifelike, super-soft and salt-impregnated lure, they'll fight to hang on. Zoom baits are known for their fish-catching ability on all kinds of rigs, and the Swamp Crawler is no exception. Fish it any way you like—there's no wrong way to go.

Z-3 Swamp Crawler Strikes Again and AgainAfter reading about the “Neko” rig in the January/February 2017 issue of "Bassmaster" magazine, I started looking for plastic worms. Perusing the BPS Master Catalog 2017, I chose the Zoom Z-3 Swamp Crawler as a starting point for likely Neko bait candidates. I ended up selecting the “MM-III” colored worm as the MM-III combines purple, blue, and brown colored layers. I have had plenty of experience fishing with these colors individually, so I felt a combination of the 3 colors would likely work as well.
I set up my Neko rig using the Z-3 Swamp Crawler worm with a 1/16 oz. VMC half-moon wacky weight and a VMC size #1 Neko hook. The first time out to my favorite pond, my setup was on fire as I landed 13 largemouth and spotted bass within the first hour. Almost all of the fish had been hooked through the top lip. The Z-3 Swamp Crawler proved to be remarkably resilient. I was able to simply reset the hook in the top half of the plastic worm and continue fishing without delay.
