Our World Wide Sportsman® Gold Cup® Fly Reel was tested for 3 years from Alaska to Florida. It's constructed from cold-forged, CNC-machined, 6061 T6 aluminum, and boasts a sealed 11-washer drag stack. contender with the bestI have been fly fishing blue water for 20 plus years & Fly fishing for over 40 years, this reel is just as good as any of the more expensive reels I have owned From SA, and more. The reel is smooth drag is very good, the only negative aspect is the cap that holds reel on could be steel instead of plastic. Every reel has a downfall, however all in all this reel holds up great! I'm not easy on equipment at all and it has survived me. I would recommend it as a contender in top reels for the money unless you can afford a Tibor this will work for you

GC 789, A good reel BUTReplace the screw on soft plastic cap that holds the spool and reel together with a metal cap, this will prevent breakdown of the reel.

good valueI had a chance to fish this reel on a guide's boat this fall. Very impressive for the price point; caught two false albacore, deep into the backing on the second. Reel was very smooth, seems to have very little startup inertia, no stickiness after a couple of runs. I'd give it 5 stars but I have no idea how durable it may prove to be. Nice price for spare spools also.
Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops. The picture below will have information on spool removal.
