White River Fly Shop Fly Line Nipper
Our White River Fly Shop® Fly Line Nipper comes in handy for a number of tasks. Constructed of stainless steel with a black, powder-coat finish, the Nipper measures 2-1/8" and features jaws that remain open, sharp, and ready for severing line, trimming flies, leader, and other materials. The small tool also incorporates a needle for clearing the eyes of hooks and swivels that become fouled with resin, moss, or debris. A bead chain allows you to connect the Nipper to your vest or chest pack.

Inexpensive and they workQuite simply, these work and they're inexpensive. I have had nothing like the experience one reviewer had with the edge bending. Cuts tippet and leader of all sizes no problem for me. In a pinch, I have used these to cut braided line during spin casting and they worked well, though I would not recommend that as a standard approach. These also sharpen rather easily with a round diamond file (something like Smith's or Lansky diamond tapers that Cabelas and BP sell). My one issue is the needle on the back sits a bit too high, so once in a while you'll poke yourself. Doesn't break skin, but not exactly a dream sensation either.

Absolutely WorthlessFirst time out of the package.. It won't even cut through a 5X tippet without a second pass. The filament actually made the paint "powdercoat" curl back on the inside of the jaws. There is even a slight indentation where the monofilament BENT the edge!!. Totally waste - maybe might work for fingernails but not for fishing line, even light gauge. Could not believe that a simple product could be soooo bad. Sorry, but cannot lie..... Makes me distrustful of the White River brand. A waste of $4 - now I know to get a Revlon $6 nail clipper and forget about "fishing" brands.

Hard to beatIf you are looking for a simple, effectively sharp pair of nippers to hang from a zinger on your vest, these are the ones. No bells and whistles to kick up the price, just a great sized nipper with a small hook-eye opening needle point for opening epoxy clogged fly hooks on the back side. Can't beat the price either.

Handy tool to have! These are inexpensive nippers which serve their purpose well for a couple years. Then you need to either re-sharpen or buy another pair. I like them because they are easy to use and of you drop them you are not out of expensive nippers!
