Know what you are buyingThese chunks are good for smoking. However, these are not meant for the smokers that Cabela's has them recommended for. I purchased a Masterbuilt Sportsman Elite at the same time and they recommend chips not chunks. I've had to manually break up the chunks for them to fit into the smoker, which can be a real pain. As for cooking, they work fine.

10 lb Bag of HardwoodAfter the local mega home improvement stores stopped carrying the larger bags of hickory and mesquite, I was pleased to see that Cabela's had 10 lb. bags. I smoke a lot of meat, fish, and fowl so I use a lot of hickory, mesquite, apple, and pecan wood. Fortunately shipping only takes a week, so its easy to resupply.

Great for my charcoal smokerI've had nothing but great success with these chunks. I've used the apple, mesquite, and pecan. Everything turns out great. They come in the perfect size range for using over charcoal.

This is the ticketI'm an experienced smoker and I love these. I mix these with lump charcoal for my Kamado grill and they work extremely well. Easy to light and produces more smoke than lump charcoal alone, and lasts much longer than chips. Do not use these with gas or electric smokers - not to be confused with chips. I highly recommend these.

Good Stuff!Bought the mesquite - perfect size logs for my offset smoker. Several of the logs were big enough to split into four pieces. Cooked a 14lb brisket with these logs and it came out perfect! Folks it's wood...don't be fooled by companies that claim their wood is better - I've been smoking meat for over 25 years and the quality of this stuff is as good as any I have used.
