The lodgepole pine is cut from dead, standing timber in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana, instead of harvesting live trees. Natural bark and checking on the logs adds character to each piece and does not adversely affect the stability of the furniture. The nightstand's top and drawer front are made from reclaimed barnwood from old barns and sheds in Utah and Wyoming. The boards consist of a variety of woods, including pine, fir and cedar, with a multitude of colors, grain patterns and weathering. The nightstand's concealed top slides open quietly using a metal rail, steel ball bearing system to reveal a hidden storage space that's large enough to keep a handgun and flashlight.
