Cabela’s Outfitter Camera Software Upgrade Guide


Please have these necessary items ready before upgrading:

• Camera • SD Card (4GB or larger) • 4 or 8 AA batteries (4 batteries for Herter’s or 8 batteries for Outfitter GEN2)
• Laptop/Computer • SD card reader (either part of your laptop or an external reader)

Please select the correct model of camera for the correct firmware

** Utilizing the wrong model firmware on your camera may render the camera in-operable. **
— If your camera model is not listed, there is currently no firmware updates for your camera. —


A Brief Installation video

Cabela’s Outfitter Gen2 Black IR Camera upgrade

1. Download and transfer the new firmware (v1.00.54)
  1. Download the new firmware file, using this download link. Save it to a location you can easily find.
  2. Ensure the SD card is unlocked (See Fig. 1)
  3. Insert it into the SD card slot (assuming it is already connected to the USB port of the computer).
  4. Find your SD drive (Removable Drive) on your computer.
  5. Copy the downloaded file from the previous step, FW96220A.bin, to the root directory of your SD card.
  6. Remove the SD card and move the SD card lock switch to the Locked position (Write Protected) (see Fig. 1).

2. Update the firmware in the Camera
  1. Turn the camera off and load the batteries into the camera.
  2. Insert the SD card into the camera, making sure the SD card lock switch is in the Locked position.
  3. Slide the Power Switch on the camera to the “Setup” position, and wait for the camera to reboot (Reboot times may vary up to 10 seconds and once completed, the display screen will be lit and the normal camera menu screen should appear).
  4. Turn off the camera and remove the SD card.
  5. If you need to update another camera, repeat Step 1-4; otherwise, move the SD card lock switch to the “Unlocked” position so you can use the SD card for regular use.

3. Remove firmware upgrade from the SD card
  1. Turn off the camera and remove the SD card.
  2. Unlock the SD card.
  3. Insert the SD card into your computer’s or external SD slot reader.
  4. Navigate to the SD removable drive on your computer.
  5. Delete the FW96220A.bin file.
  6. Remove the SD card and use it normally with your camera.

Cabela’s Outfitter Gen2 White IR Camera upgrade

1. Download and transfer the new firmware (v1.00.56)
  1. Download the new firmware file, using this download link. Save it to a location you can easily find.
  2. Ensure the SD card is unlocked (See Fig. 1)
  3. Insert it into the SD card slot (assuming it is already connected to the USB port of the computer).
  4. Find your SD drive (Removable Drive) on your computer.
  5. Copy the downloaded file from the previous step, FW96220A.bin, to the root directory of your SD card.
  6. Remove the SD card and move the SD card lock switch to the Locked position (Write Protected) (see Fig. 1).

  1. Download the new firmware file, using this download link. Save it to a location you can easily find.
  2. Ensure the SD card is unlocked (See Fig. 1)
  3. Insert it into the SD card slot (assuming it is already connected to the USB port of the computer).
  4. Find your SD drive (Removable Drive) on your computer.
  5. Copy the downloaded file from the previous step, FW96220A.bin, to the root directory of your SD card.
  6. Remove the SD card and move the SD card lock switch to the Locked position (Write Protected) (see Fig. 1).
