3-10 x 42I have now replaced the 2.5-8 x 36 Leupold on my Kimber 84M hunter with the Swarovski 3-10 x 42. The Swarovski is an inch longer and an ounce heavier than the Leupold but the increased clarity made it worth it. The scope fit in the Talley low mounts but I've opted for the medium mount height, it just goes right to my line of sight more precisely than the low mounts did. It is a very good looking set up and does not take away from the balance of the rifle at all. Sighting in was a breeze and the scope adjustments were very precise, four clicks = one inch every time, no guessing or "oops, what happened there?" moments. It may take me a bit of time to get used to the BRH reticle; it just seems a little "busy". However, once I filled out everything on the Swarovski web sight it looks as if I am in luck. I've sighted in with a 100 yard zero and at 10 power each cross hatch will be an additional 100 yards (give or take just a couple yards here or there). So cross hatch's out to 600 yards and the dots between are each roughly 50 yard increments. This'll be pretty handy. I am very particular about the optics on my rifles. It doesn't matter how accurate your rifle is if your sights are crap. I have a lot of rifles with scopes on them that cost more than the rifle. I'm using the Swarovski 4-12 x 50 BT and now the 3-10 x 42 and just love 'em. You can really, really tell a difference with these scopes. I still have my Leopold's and love them dearly but the rifles I use the most are getting the Swarovski's.

Simply amazingI've the 4-12 BT. There is good and bad news about owning it. The good is that this thing has amazing clarity. Not just in the store but up at that big field on the mountain as two coyote come out in the moonlight. The same field where you've talked yourself out of taking that little eight point who was 400 yards off at dusk, you could make that shot but you knew there were two big bruisers out there somewhere. I was in each of these situations and many others that I actually took a moment to pause and reflect on how good these optics are. I do not think I could have seen those coyote in the moonlight or been able to tell that was the little eight point in poor light conditions after the sun had set unless I was using this scope. Just amazing. The adjustments are precise and easy to use, very well designed. The ballistic turret does just what it is supposed too but make sure you confirm the settings by shooting, not just the settings from the internet site. Each rifle will be a bit different. Mine was very close but still a little flatter shooting. This is a full size scope and I was initially concerned about the large 50mm objective but it is put together in such a way that it seems more compact. Perhaps it is because the angle transitions are slightly rounded without any sharp lines.
Now the bad news. I have five Leupolds; VX-3's, VX-2, and FX's. Always, ALWAYS..., loved them so much. Never thought I'd find another brand that I'd feel was better. Dang Swarovskis!! I'm not getting rid of the Leupolds but I am getting another Swarovski. That 3-10 will really set off my Kimber Hunter. Sure there is a VX-3, 2.5-8 on there now but I've got another home for it.

Great glass for the money, customer service+++I have the Z3 on my Elk gun, Tika stainless 300 WSM. For the money you can't beat this scope!

Clarity is second to none!I find the BRH reticle and Swarovski Ballistics program work very well together. Can't wait to replace my other scopes with the Swarovski Z3's! They are pricy but you get what you pay for.

Swaroski-worth the moneyI have several Swarovski's on rifles from .204 up to .416 and find them rugged and repeatable, the clarity of the glass and function through the range of the scopes is flawless, they are worth the money. This particular scope is on a lightweight Weatherby, this scope works well on this platform also being lightweight

Ballistic reticle is Awesome!I have a Z3 4-12 50mm with the BRH reticle mounted on a 257 Wby that I've used successfully east and west, for whitetails, mule deer, and antelope. Yes, the clarity and low-light performance is outstanding, but the reticle and ballistic app available from Swarovski are very underappreciated features of this scope in my opinion. I prefer not to fool with clicking dials in hunting situations, and have seen more hunters screw up as a result than be successful. With the swaro ballistic reticle, once you feed your ballistics into the app, you can print out the reticle with yardages and tape it right to your rifle / scope. This method has worked flawlessly in the field in high pressure situations and I highly recommend the scope and reticle combination.

Excellent Rifle ScopeThe 3x10 x 42 Z-3 is an outstanding hunting optic. I have four of them now, one on my primary elk rifle, one on my back up elk rifle and one on each of my deer primary and back up rifles. This scope is excellent for virtually every hunting situation. I have used the Z-3 elk hunting in all kinds of weather in the central Colorado mountains and deer hunting in highly variable weather conditions in NW Montana. The quality of the optic is superb. One of the things that I like best about this scope is that it is not too big for my rifles. It is relatively compact yet offers great magnification and field of view. I highly recommend the Z-3.

z3 3-10x42 is excellent , this is all you needI have 3-10x42 plex model. beautiful glass just like looking through a high end bino. plex reticle is very clean and solid, this should help in low light situations.
when compared with my z6i 1.7-10 , the glass seems to be the same. I like z3 plex reticle better than z6i 4A. I would recommend z3 over z6 and suggest you to save money. if you are not hunting thick brush or running game then 3x magnification at the lower end will serve you well. only reason I will buy z6 is that if I want wider magnification range. remember for hunting scope magnification - less is more.
Does the Z3 in the 4x12x50 with the "Plex" reticle also have the Ballistic Turrett. It is listed at $899.99. Cabelas as the same scope at the same price but it clearly states it has the Ballistic Turrett.

Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops. The 4x-12x 50mm with the Plex reticle does not have the ballistic turret. Bass Pro Shops does not have the ballistic turret variant online at this time. The scope on Cabela's website being referenced has a power of 4-12 BT to indicate that one in particular has the ballistic turret.
