Stevens Model 555 Silver Over/Under Shotgun
A Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's Exclusive!
Savage® has earned a reputation for producing economical, well-built arms, and that tradition continues with the Stevens Model 555 Silver Over/Under Shotgun. The 555 is made with a lightweight aluminum-alloy receiver with a steel insert centered right over the firing pin holes that reinforces the standing breech to handle any load. The barrels are made from carbon steel, chrome lined for enhanced pattern uniformity, and are topped with a ventilated rib with 1 brass bead front sight. The barrels hinge on steel trunnions instead of a full-length hinge pin, and auto ejectors clear chambers quickly for rapid reloading. The Model 555 has mechanical triggers, which set the trigger on the second barrel when the trigger for the first barrel is pulled; unlike inertia triggers, which set the second trigger off the recoil of the first shot. With mechanical triggers, if the first barrel doesn't fire, the shooter only has to pull the trigger again for the second barrel to fire. The easy-to-activate tang safety also acts as a barrel selector. The Savage Stevens Model 555 Silver Over/Under Shotgun has a handsome, oil finished, checkered, Turkish walnut stock and blued barrels. Comes with 5 screw-in choke tubes.

Stevens 555 20 gauge silverI won this shotgun in 2018 at an outdoors sports show along with an all expenses paid pheasant hunt the gun ineas given with this hunt was the 20 gauge and ive now shot well over 500 rounds through it and never had a single jam or missfire with it i also shoot from my wheelchair and the light weight of this gun makes it very very easy to shoot from the sitting position hopefully some day i will buy its big brother the 12 gauge version as a matching set!

WELL WORTH THE MONEY! Great gun....I bought this gun on sale at BassPro for $549. I was very skeptical at first especially on some of the reviews I read. This gun is very well balanced compared to most o/u. After putting about 350 shells through this gun I had no problems. No problems with ejection, trigger, etc... . I would have to say this is great gun for anybody and at a great price.

12GA 28'This is a very good gun. The wood is excellent and the fit and finish is great. I like that it's not blued. Nothing to keep oiled. I ran 4 boxes of shells through it practiclly non stop first time to range. The barells were too hot to touch. No issues. Never failed to fire or eject. It's a good shooting gun. Great price!! It's going to spend it's life in the woods hunting birds so I don't care to pay big bucks for a O/U that I'd be compelled to pamper. I highly reccomend.

A great gun for the moneyI was looking for something for pheasant hunting so I started doing my research. I had some Cabela's gift cards and this was on sale so I checked them out. It's light and fast handling. I took several pheasant with it this past season and will probably carry it a lot more than my 11-87 this year due to it's light weight. I'm now looking at getting on in 12ga too. The only thing is that I wish that the 20ga had 28" barrels.

Failure to FireI like the balance and appearance of this gun. Trigger is on the heavy side, but breaks cleanly. Unfortunately, it's a coin toss whether or not it will go "bang" when you pull the trigger. Glaring problem like this should have been caught in Quality Control. Going back to Savage for warranty repair, big disappointment.

Not reliableI got this 20 gauge and both barrels went off several times. Then the trigger jammed. Sent back to Savage for repair and they said it was fixed. Then took my son hunting and we got on birds. I told my son to shoot and the trigger jammed again. I had to break down the gun to get it to work and the next time both barrels went off again. Then the trigger jammed again. Spend your money wisely and stay away from this gun.

Very hard triggerI just bought one in the youth model 20 gauge. The trigger is so hard that my daughter complains about a blister forming on her finger.
