St.CroixGreat rod...very sensitive...very light weight...quickly becoming my fav rod out of my St. Croixs...some of the other reviews say you can’t use a leader...false...I’ve used a leader since the first cast...not one issue

HD feel, the finest of rodsYou will feel every little thing on the bottom, including when a bass picks up your lure with it's mouth! For the last 30 years I have only used rods that are under $50 until a few days ago I tried this rod. I could feel every little thing on the bottom, almost like there was a camera on my senko. I had caught my largest bass within 30 minutes using this rod with pline fluorocarbon 12lb and I could only tell that something was happening to my bait that I wasn't doing, I set the hook and he was there, just barely felt him. I highly recommend that anyone that is serious into bass fishing and can afford the price look into this rod! When I left the lake all that was in my mind was how many bass I never felt using the cheaper rods. Also I noticed that my casting distance had increased and accuracy! Made in the USA!

Small GuidesGood rod just think the guides are too small. I tried using 20 lb braid to a 14 lb mono leader and the double uni knot would hang up in the guides.

Good rodGood solid blank, made well. I bought the 7' MH fast.
One big problem is i use beaded line and if you tie a leader on the knot will get hung up in the eyes. I tried 3 dofferent knots and they all got hung up In the last 2 eyes.

Awesome RodThis rod is an awesome do it all rod , i got the 7' MH fast action.
Having fished many rods this thing is by far the best for the money , it's light super sensitive and i mean you can feel every pebble your soft plastics run across , excellent for crack baits'n blade baits just the same.
I took it out fishing a few times now and got at least 20 largemouth monsters , although i know it wasn't the rod responsible for catching them but my superior skills as a self appointed master of the trade.
Compared to other rods the fast action is a bit more like extra fast with enough backbone for an excellent hook set so now my Duckett is going in the garage sale bin.
I've also compared it with the G Loomis rods and this by far is sweeter to fish with.
Will saltwater fishing reduce performance or cause damage in any way?
I live on Back Bay in Biloxi Mississippi. All my fishing is done in brackish water and saltwater when inshore or fishing barrier islands in the MS Sound. This rod is technically listed as a freshwater rod so I want to make sure saltwater wont corrode or damage any components.
Many high end inshore rods are made with the same materials.

This rod could be used for saltwater however it would be recommended to give the item a good cleaning after each trip.

Do you have to use a bait caster for this or can you use a spinning reel?
I prefer spinning reels because I find them easier to use?

Thank you for your inquiry. This rod is designed and built for a casting reel but a bait casting reel can also be used with it. A spinning reel would not work for this rod.
