I just went fishing and had a non-boater who was pretty big (275+). No problems. I weigh less than 200 and never felt uncomfortable with it. I'm going to purchase another two for my other smaller boat.

I did this because I thought it would be safer for holding bigger people. Since then, i've lost one person overboard, and two people landing on the bottom of my boat! The post comes completely out of the base. The plastic lock system is a joke. I can't believe there still selling this product. Buyer be ware. It looks good on paper,but the so called lock system is flawed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lammerf from easy fit I have a number of kingpin style seats and accessories but my new boat has wedge style seating. I fashioned a rod holder set to fit on top of a kingpin seat stand and then installed it on the center/rear seat position. It holds my rods up about 18" off the back riser. The rods clear the motor and are easy to get at.

Thank you for your question. Per the manufacturer, the Springfield Marine Taper-Lock Adapter works with the KingPin Pedestals and will work with a threaded post, as long as there is clearance for the pin to stick through below the deck.
