I love these pedestals!!!Not sure why there is so much hate about these pedestals. I do a ton of fishing and have had these in my boat for 2+ years without any issues. I mostly use them with the pedestal installed and they feel extremely secure. I can agree with others that I'm not a fan of using a plastic insert but it has not caused me any issues nonetheless. I'm 6'2 and 230 lbs and have never felt as if these couldn't handle me. Very happy I bought these!!!

No complainsAfter reading all the bad reviews I was a little nervous. But went ahead with it anyways. I have not been disappointed. I love the thing. I remove the post all the time with ease. At the beginning of the season I put vaseline on the bottom of the shaft so it's easy to take in and out. Feel very secure on it. No complaints so far....

Don't buy thisI bought about 1yr ago. This is a Hi-Lo seat configuration. This issue only happens in the Lo position.
I've went through 5 bases, 1 from BPS the others from Springfield. The issue is always the same the plastic piece in the center of the base breaks under little pressure. Once the plastic breaks the seat is rendered useless.
Springfield didn't recognize this as a design flaw but after complaining they switched me over to a completely different seat arraignment. They were easy to work with. BPS should get rid of this product. This reflects on there good name and is a junk product.

broken in a weekInstalled last fall for this year. Used a couple days in June. Mid July used 3days when inner bushing in base snapped..Yes I leaned back to put key in ignition, but come on not like I jumped on seat.Post still fits and works. Gonna dig up receipt and see if they'll warranty item. Great idea if only bushing was made of aluminum.

pedestalMaybe I dont know what I'm talking about ...but I took the screw cap off and have no problems.....I just figured the screw cap was there for you to permanently lock them into the base

flimsy & difficult to useHave never been able to get posts out of base. I'm going to have to drill through them and try to use a pry-bar to get them loose.
Plastic piece on bottom of seat unscrews constantly. One fell off and then the plastic receiver in the top of the post shattered.
Even in the one the still works it always feels like it's going to snap off backwards -- and I weigh 160lbs.
Terrible product.

Horrible pedestalThis pedestal is nearly impossible to take in and out, and the screw cap at the end of the base falls right off. after a few trips the plastic piece in the base broke rendering the product useless, my other one broke a few days later. A total waste of money.

Don't waste your moneyAs in other reviews this product has a major problem with a screw on cap at the bottom of the seat pedestal. I'm lucky if I get 2 trips out before it falls apart. Yes BPS will gladly replace the whole unit, but that does not fix the problem. My advice would be to find another brand of pedestal.
