Best reel I’ve bought for the price !!I’ve had the shimano Nasci 3000 for over a year and it’s my go to. I use it for Freshwater/Saltwater. All my buddy’s use to crack on me because of the reel size I bought. That didn’t last long after i pulled in 30”+ snook on MULTIPLE occasions still to this day. I’ve also caught my PB bass as well. I Just smirk and say “how about the small reel?”.

UnreliableI've been using this reel for 8 months now and have been quite disappointed with it. It is a smooth reel that is nice to use, however, it tends to fail when reeling in fish. I have had fish on and then all of a sudden the reel lets go and spins in reverse. Not sure how this happens since there is no option to reel backwards on this reel. I have also found that when the spool is still, it is very easy to pull line (Resulting in weak hook sets and difficulty reeling in lures) but when a fish takes drag it becomes harder to pull and has resulted in numerous fish breaking off. Hard to trust this reel and because of that I won't be buying another one again.

Excellent reelI bought the 5000 size and paired it with a Daiwa stw70hf. Spooled it with 30lb braid/25lb flouro leader. I've used it to catch several California yellowtail and yellowfin tuna 20-25lbs and it handled all fish well. Very smooth drag. Highly recommended.

Past The try out test - Flying YardsI loaded the (c3000HG) yesterday and took it for a comparison test vs my mitchell 300 and Kast King Royale legend elite. Off the dock The Nasci cast further then both. Same WP 75 on all three. I used a protruding rock as the distance marker. Out cast by 10- 20 yards. Excited to start upgrading all my rigs to higher quality like Shimano, St. Croix and a nice Ark Lancing rod. As i get older the weight and performance becomes much more important then the price for me. So i just made Fishing for 8 hours in a Kayak Bass Fishing a little easier.

smooth but uncomfortablethis is a smooth reel and i have 9 other shimano spinning reels but the nasci reel frame from the reel seat on all my rods to the offset in the stem is to short and is very uncomfortable . the offset hits right on the knuckle on my ring finger i have medium to small hands i wish it was the same as all my other shimano reels so i could fish with it instead of retireing it to the spare reel box

Best Inshore Reel Under $100!!!!I have had the 3000HG model for about a year now, it's been an excellent reel for inshore applications in Florida. It's caught everything from snapper, to bonito. I have a Shimano Stradic CI4+ 3000, it feels just as the CI4+ smooth to me. Don't listen to negative reviews, and you won't need to use a reverse function on a reel like this. You get way more reel for your $$$ than you could ever imagine!!!!

Great reel for the moneyBought this reel 1 year ago. Very smooth best reel I've ever owned. Very smooth and light. No problems.
Is it proper to spool braided line directly to the spool or is some type of backing required?
Asked by: Bilge Pump Bob
Regardless of which type of backing material you use, make sure you use some sort of backer for braided fishing line and tie the braid over the backing material when you spool the reel.

What do you mean by medium salt water applications? Jigging, spoons, poppers?
Asked by: Mikey2109
Thanks for the question. When we say a reel is suitable for "medium saltwater applications", we are referring to the size of fish you are likely to encounter. Please check the maximum drag figures for each model; the larger sizes in the Shimano Nasci have either 20 or 24 pounds of stopping power.
