absolutely awesomeive owned at least 50 baitcasters in my day...quite a few shimano and they are all absolute quality but...the chronarch MGL is on a whole other level...not 1 flaw ....baitcasting perfection....only 1 reel even comes close and the metanium is 420.00..if your on the fence buy it, worth every single penny

Just buyI am going to cut right to the chase.This is the best reel i have ever owned.Not the most expensive but the best.

I set 2 brakes on, set dial at 3 out of the box 30lb braid and i could not backlash this thing.
I do not do reviews but i cannot let this go without one.
This reel just replaced every reel i own=6.I paid over $500 bucks for 3 of them each Over $300 for the other 3 each.
Folks i fish at least 4-5 days a week and i have put this reel to the test in wind,rain,cold and it's what i would consider a must have.

Poor QualityI received this product in the mail and the brake adjustment on the side of the reel is made of cheap soft plastic. before i even used the real the threads were messed up and I couldn't adjust it. I will be returning and going back to Curados.

Amazing!I have a couple of Curado that make up the "high end" gear in my arsenal. I saved up a few more bucks for a do-it-all reel that would also chunk lighter lures without casting issues. This is my first Chronarch and by far the most expensive reel I own now, but it was absolutely worth it! I left the cast control setting as they are from the factory and proceeded to throw an 1/8oz Flashy Swimmer and a 3 1/2in cane thumper. Wow! This thing bombed the lighter bait twice as far as anything I have ever has. One overrun as dialed in the cast control and that was it for the day. I fished it almost exclusively because I didn't want to put it down. Ended up pulling in 3 fish and it never skipped a beat. Incredibly smooth drag and the micro gearing is buttery smooth. I definitely suggest saving your pennies if you are on a budget like me and pulling the trigger on this. I've already got my "new gear fund" started for another one.

Great ReelThe redesign of this reel caught my interest and I am pleased to say the new technology really made a marketable improvement over the original.Brass Micro module gearing is smooth and stable due to the dual bearing supported pinion. The Magnesium spool is certainly an improvement for cast-ability. Great reel that competes with my Metaniums.

Great reelBought the 151 HG in May and was so impressed I had another by July. Casts light lures, breaks are easy to adjust and the retrieve and drag are butter smooth. This reel is so close to my Metanium MGL performance wise, and that's saying a lot.

Butter smoothThis was my first jump into the $200 plus range reels and I could not be happier. I honestly have baitcasters that will cast further, but none that are as solid and effortless as this. The micro gear technology makes retrieves so smooth I actually had to get used to the feel. Pitching is effortless and deadly accurate. Dual breaking system was dialed in the first day. If you're looking to get into a mid-range, high end reel, DO NOT hesitate.

This reel is not saltwater safe. I suggest getting the Chronarch G by Shimano which is saltwater safe.

Is this reel suitable for use in salt water? Specifically I'm interested in using it for light tackle jigging in the upper and mid Chesapeake Bay.
