Great Value and Quality - Musky reelI purchased my Calcutta 200b about 4 years ago now and this is hands down one of the best purchases I've made. The quality you get with this reel for the price is amazing. We do a lot of musky fishing in the Susquehanna River in PA and this reel handles everything well. Of note, we have a Calcutta 300 te, a Tranx 500 in both PG and HG, and a AG C4 (would never by another, it's junk compared to a 200b). We sent our reels to be "tuned" shortly after purchase. The 200b is only minimally behind the 300te as far as smoothness goes, i'd say unnoticeable unless you're switching between the two back to back, but still minimal. Unfortunately they didn't sell the tranx in 300 size at the time, but the tranx500 is just too much unless you're pulling something huge; and still, it kills you quickly and it's so bulky. The 200b and 300 te calcuttas are our most used rods and the most versatile. A #5 bucktail, double 10s, glide bait, medussas, bondi's, and big ol' whopper ploppers; those two reels handle everything well and they're still comfortable to throw all day long and fit your hand well. 4 years of fishing later and no issues to report (we pull them apart every year to inspect and grease also). So if you're on the fence, and are looking for a good musky reel at a good price, i'd say start with the 200b if you're on a budget. Couldn't be happier with this reel. And if you're like us, we have 2 rods each with different lure combos that we switch back and forth, so saving a hundred bucks here and there adds up in that quantity. Hope that helps some.

Great eel for NorthernsBought this reel for stripers but never got to use it until I went up to Canada for some pike fishing. With a MOJO muskie rod I easily brought this in. Now its back to stripers

Calcutta BI own 2 of these. The 50 and 100. They are super reels. Cast a mile and have never had backlash on either. Smooth all around reel. Like them better than the new ones.

Best reel I've ever purchasedWOW!!!!!
This reel is so smooth, casting 6" swim baits like it's nothing . I've had this reel for 3 years and I love it !! Recently my son and I took a trip down the Colorado river below the Hoover dam , I had to drive the boat so several large strippers were hooked up I was a little nervous at first letting my 10 year old son use my favorite reel but I'm glad I did, he pulled in 2 10 pound strippers like it was nothing . And as a side note I have never once had a birds nest it's just launches baits out with no problem!
I love this reel!!

superb reelI have owned my calcutta 201b for a few months now and I am beyond impressed. can't say enough good about it. I have always steered towards abu reels but not anymore. I would choose this over my c3's and c4 any day of the week. It also out performs my revo sx without question. Very impressed with this shimano reel.
Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops. Conventional reels would be a better option for deep sea fishing.

What rod would best suit the 700B for saltwater fishing on the shore and pier?

Thank you for choosing Bass Pro Shops. The link below will take you to a page that will provide options that may fit your needs. Just keep in mind that the rod chosen does need to be a casting rod to go with this baitcast reel.

WHATS A GOOD ROD TO GO WITH THIS REEL IF I AM BASS FISHING IN A SMALL LAKE???
Asked by: GMAN8FIFTY
This all depends on the technique you are fishing. We suggest pairing this with the correct GLoomis or Shimano rod.
