Aldebaran worth it??I have the Shimano Chronarch, Curado and two Pfleuger reels. The Aldebaran is lighter and best for upwind casting. 1/4 ounce lures are no problem. Has added 20 yards to my casting distance with similar lures.

Aldebaran is SMOOTHThe compact and light weight design really stand out when compared to other baitcast reels. The spool control system is easy to adjust and there is more surface area available. Hope to fish soonest.

Best reel on my boatInitially, I bought this reel because of its light weight. I built a custom worm rod on a HM Gary Loomis blank, and since the rod was so light and sensitive, I wanted the lightest reel available. I should add that I was always a big Abu/Revo fan, and I own several of those models, including their high end MGXtremes. Side by side, this Shimano out performs all of my other reels. It is smoother, casts further, and almost never backlashes. And this reel is a workhorse. I've fished it (hard) for 3 years and I haven't had to open it up for cleaning yet. I have 8 rods on deck when I fish, and this reel is always rigged TX style with a worm. On any given day, it's in my hands 70% of the day, I've made tens of thousands of satisfying casts, and boated hundreds of bass on this reel. The light weight and large spool design allow me to cast 1/8oz weights, even in the wind, with no problems. It's my favorite reel by far, and its light weight, excellent performance and bullet proof reliability make it a bargain at any price.
