The Savage® Axis II XP Hardwood Bolt-Action Rifle features a traditional hardwood stock and a Weaver® KASPA™ 3-9x40mm scope. Savage's AccuTrigger® enables shooters to obtain exceptional accuracy with the Axis II XP, by allowing precise adjustments for desired weight of pull with a crisp release and no creep. A lever mounted within the trigger body blocks the sear unless the trigger is intentionally pressed in the center, virtually minimizing the risk of accidental discharge. A silky-smooth bolt and detachable box magazine provide uncompromised reliability. A 2-position tang safety is easy to reach with the shooter's thumb. Sling swivel studs allow you to carry the rifle with a sling and attach a bi-pod to the forend. The Weaver scope features multi-coated lenses, and 1/4" MOA adjustments; and comes factory mounted and bore-sighted. The Savage Axis II XP package is an extremely practical and affordable bolt-action rifle that comes ready for hunting adventures.

Good Rifle... Poor scope mount due to bolt angleOnce dialed in the Rifle shoots great, tight consistantly shot tight groups.
* The only issue with the rifle and it's a big one. When you open the bolt to rack another round, the scope will tear a chunk of meat from your thumb. Open Bolt angle is to high, and the scope is short and fat. I replaced the scope and scope mounts, eased the scope back as far as possible and still clearly see through it before it left the house. Even with the changes your thumb will still get a little smashed when you quickly open the bolt. The rifle being a gift to a first time hunter not really a great gift if it hurts you. Being that it was bought online I was told by BPS, NO returns on firearms purchased online. Still a great shooting rifle though. Just thought I'd share this issue.

Great BuyI brought this rifle about a month an half. This package shock me , I got it in a 7mm08 And let me tell you when I shoot it at the club I was a very happy camper. I was off center by two inch and the group was tight . For coming out off the box that was great . The bolt action is smooth and the two stage trigger is great . I love this gun and yes I would tell some one to buy it .

Awesome rifle would buy againI picked this rifle up back last year early November, and got in .308 winchester , and have shot it maybe 25 times and love it. when it says factory bore sighted that's not accurate. But the scope this rifle comes with is decent and clear. Right out of the box would work to hunt with just pick up some winchester soft points 150 gr and your good to go. (may need to sight in scope though)

Thank you for your question. The Savage Axis II XP Hardwood Bolt-Action Rifle with Scope will have the ‘Axis’ magazine with the plastic bottom, spring and follower and has a metal body.
