Description
Penn Warfare Line Counter Conventional Saltwater Reel
For trolling or deep drop fishing, the Penn® Warfare Line Counter Reel offers the versatility and precision you seek, at a surprisingly affordable price. Its 3-digit mechanical counter reads up to 999' of line out, enabling you to place your lure exactly where you want it behind or under your boat. Strong and reliable, it's built for long days and heavy seas, with a lightweight, corrosion-resistant graphite frame and sideplates edged in stainless steel for extra rigidity to prevent frame-flex. Its forged-and-machined aluminum spool, machined brass main and pinion gears, and heavy-duty cranking handle are all designed to stand up to the daily rigors of saltwater fishing, and Penn's proven drag system is built around super-efficient HT-100 carbon fiber washers to ensure smooth drag performance despite the heavy loads. Line capacity rings on the spool walls tell you at a glance how much line remains on the spool—a handy feature in the heat of battle. Equipped with bearing-supported instant anti-reverse.

Good for the price, some issuesI got it at a good price so can't complain. Bait clicker wouldn't disengage all the way initially. I stretched an internal spring which kinda sorted it. Poor quality control. Level wind a little sloppy feels cheap. Other than that all good, does the job.

Not what I expectedBought 2 of these 2 years ago and have had constant annoyance of linecounter not engaging while letting line out. Have to get in the habit of manually engaging spool as it takes 1-1/4 revolution of handle it engage.

New striper reelsI guide for stripers and these reels are just what I was looking for. Will see how they hold up but have bunches of different Penn reels and haven't been disappointed yet. Only issue is clicker knob, too small and difficult to do quickly.

bad quality all aroundHad these for 2 seasons. Line counter never works, gets stuck and doesn't count. Line guides both stopped working, cant operate without it. All in all a terrible product.

Great Reel, put 80lb braid on it !So i bought one and then turned around and bought another! Using them for snagging paddle fish. Line counter works great, the drag is super nice with the detent on each click. Handles 50lb plus fish all day long! Smooth reeling, clicker works great! If you ever owned a penn 49 Reel ( which was icon of reels) this thing can hang with it all day long!

stergeon worked wellBought 3, 90 lb braid, 80 lb leader, daughter took fishing, brought in several. One was 8ft 6in probably over 300 lb, to boat. Fought for over hour. Reel did not get hot like others do. Her second fish broke leader when jumped about 50 ft from boat, looks to be over 6ft in video. Point being she is happy with reel, not so happy with power pro braid leader. Video can be seen Darrell Axtell Facebook, 4 28 19 date he was her guide.
The only reason for the good mark was, would like to see higher capable line holding with level wind and line counter, like to use 114 braid as main line.

Good reel, smooth drag, sub par counterI’ve used the reel 2 weeks and so far the drag is great, handle is very comfortable, line counter is not good. Even setting lines the counter is all over the place.
Really like the big handle though very comfortable fighting big fish
Do any penn level wind with line counter reels come with left handed retrieve?
Asked by: Jack33
Thank you for your question. Penn Warfare Reel models that have LH as the last two letters are for left hand. Models WAR15LWLCLH, WAR20LWLCLH andWAR30LWLCLH are all left hand reels.

Would this reel be good for surf casting?

Clicker?
Does this reel have an audible clicker for when you're trolling and the fish starts pulling drag in case you're not looking?
