PENN Clash Spinning Reel
For those who push their tackle to the limits, the PENN® Clash™ Spinning Reel makes sense. The big fish you target would play havoc with lesser gear. This worthy addition to PENN's legendary arsenal features a Full Metal Body for ultimate strength in battle; its rigidity eliminates twist caused by high drag pressure. The Dura-Gear system incorporates CNC™ Gear Technology, ensuring superior mesh and exceptional durability. 9 sealed bearings keep everything moving freely without allowing contaminants to gum up the works; the 8+1 system includes 8 stainless steel ball bearings plus an Instant Anti-Reverse bearing. The Clash's powerful drag system uses Penn HT-100™ carbon fiber drag washers, known for smooth performance and efficient heat dissipation. The Leveline Oscillation System uses the slow-oscillation concept to lay the line evenly on the spool for best performance. Heavy-duty aluminum bail wire; Tough braid-ready spool with easy-to-see Line Capacity Rings.

Extremely disappointedI bought the Penn Clash 2500 and used it one time. The bail will not work as it should. I feels like I'm going to snap the housing when I try to crank the handle. If i flip the bail manually it's fine but I paid for the automatic bail.
I brought the reel back to where I bought it and he agreed. He sent it to an authorized repair center and they said it is fine.
I will NEVER purchase anything from Penn again.

Quality not thereI recently received two new Clash reels, 3000 & 5000. First thing I found is no reverse switch. Now I know what instant anti-reverse is. I put it in a St. Croix Avid rod, take it kayak fishing and as I’m winding line from my cast it is falling off the spool at the same time. The spool is not overfilled. I bought these reels on line so I didn’t see them in person. I bought them based on my previous experience with the Conflict reels. I’m looking for a reel I can use in both salt and freshwater

My go to inshore reelOver the last few years, Penn has really stepped their game up. I fish with Clash and Slammer III reels. I really like the clash for casting lures all day because of its light weight. Great drag too. Very smooth too. I did replace the bushing on the bail with a roller bearing and added a gomexus handle. Much easier to hold on to and reel. Until Penn comes up with a better reel, I'm sticking with my clash reels.

Thank you, Penn!An all around outstanding reel. I have 2 2500, a 3000 and a 4000. That pretty much covers my inshore fishing (mosquito lagoon/Merritt island, fl. I've never had a wind not and I'm very satisfied with the line lay. For those of you having those issues, regardless of the spinning reel brand, fishing with braid, you should always manually close the bail. After a few times you get used to it and it becomes second nature.

Great ReelI own 2 other Penn Clash reels. I have a 3000 and a 4000. Both reels have preformed very well. The retrieve is very good and the drag has been very dependable. Because my 3000 and 4000 have preformed with very good results I purchased a new Penn Clash 4000. It fishes real well.
Would this reel be recommended for walleye fishing, if so what size would be the best fit?

Yes, the PENN Clash Spinning Reel would be a good option for Walleye Fishing
Make sure that the reel you choose has an extremely smooth drag, as this will be necessary when doing battle with a fish. A high-quality spinning reel that is rated for 8- or 10-pound test line. (Monofilament is my preferred line to use.) https://1source.basspro.com/index.php/component/k2/76-walleye-fishing/522-walleye-fishing-tackle-buyers-guide
