Q&A
Serious saltwater anglers find Owner's® Mutu Lightâ„¢ Circle Hooks ideal for rigging both live and chunk baits. These premium Mutu Light Circle Hooks are designed with a unique offset, ''hangnail'' point so fish are jaw-hooked, not gut-hooked, approximately 90% of the time. Super-sharp forged point with a corrosion-resistant finish. Plus, the lighter wire used on these hooks allows for a livelier bait action. Models 5114 and 5314

good hooksEasy to get back out, hold live bait well, and are very strong. I could not ask much more from the hooks.

Best live bait hook on the marketI've tried many different circle hooks. This hook is by far the best. From wild shiners for bass, to Snook, to Tarpon. This hook is the best.

Owner Mutu circle hooksI like these hooks.
An old Swed taught me how to troll lead core line and catch Salmon. I cut the eye off and retry them as snelled hoods the light wire is perfect for sewn bait .

High percentage of hook upsStrong for their size, I go a size under what I normally use with these. Seems to work better. DONT SET THE HOOK, its hard to fight that reflex, but I loose way less fish with these. Seems like most are already caught once they hit. Just pick up the pole and reel them in. Stays sharp for a good while. Worth the $$$

Best Circle Hook MadeI've been using these in fresh water as long as they've been making them (learned how in the salt) and was overjoyed when the light version came on the market. I use them for smallmouth on live bait in clear Ozark streams. Cast net for large bait, 6 to 9 inches (or larger) and hook them through the lips, which, with a normal hook will often result in a gut hooked fish. Not with the mutu. I've actually kept track and have had as high as 100% corner of the mouth on 20 fish, as low as 75% corner and the rest in the lip. Hard to believe, but if fished properly the fish will always be hooked in the mouth. For those that straighten or break the hook it sounds like they need to go larger. I use a 1/0 with a 9" bait (I won't say what species but they aren't game fish). You have to 'retrain' yourself NOT to set the hook. Light pressure on the rod until the slack is taken up then raise your rod tip and its off to the races. A little pricey but great for catch and release. Give them a try, have patience and not only will you have a blast but your fishing spots will improve. Makes little sense to release a gilled or gut hooked fish.

Excellent hookupIf you can fight the reflex to set the hook these are almost life changing. Hardly ever loose fish. Most of the time if you have patience the fish will hook itself and have a tough time throwing these hooks.

circle hooksFish mostly for smallmouth bass. This hook has greatly reduced deep hooking and consistently hooks the fish in the corner of the mouth. Perfect for release as I release all since its so much fun to catch them.

Keep awayOwner is one of the best in the market,IUsed many with great results, but this season I got this circle light in 2/0 and3/0 for mahi and small amberjack.in my first use I lost 3 fish and the last one was around only 2 kg ,lost the fish halfway when I pulle d the hooks back I saw that the hook was open.will never use it again.damp all to the sea for them to rot that is what they deserve.so be warned.

Will these work on panfish and if so what is the right size?
Asked by: Wheelchairboy88
Thank you for your inquiry. For panfish, which are very small, I would advise keeping the hook sizes around 6, 8 or 10. Anything larger will be too much.
