Description
Okuma Cold Water Low-Profile Counter Reel is perhaps the most versatile reel ever devised for walleye, musky, salmon, and striper fishing, due to its amazing adaptability to a wide range of specialized techniques. At its heart, it's a low-profile baitcaster with an extra-high line capacity, yet it fits the hand comfortably. But it also performs admirably as a trolling reel, as it's equipped with a mechanical line counter and features an impressive 25 lbs. of max drag. Whether you use the Cold Water LP for jigging, bottom bouncing, casting, long-line trolling, or live-baiting with floats or balloons, you'll find it a worthy performer. This unique reel is built on a rigid diecast aluminum frame and has a machined and anodized aluminum spool, XL drive and pinion gears; 3+1 system with stainless steel ball bearings and roller bearing; Quick-Set instant anti-reverse; multi-disc Carbonite drag; and a balanced aluminum handle with Ergo-grip knob. Mechanical counter reads in feet and features CVT Clear View Technology anti-fogging. Manufacturer's 1-year warranty.

This is NOT A CASTING reelThis is a trolling reel NOT A CASTING REEL IF you cast it you will certainly mess up the line counter gears because it was not designed to be casted. The casting velocity of the line going out on the line counter gears will damaged those small gears. IF you want to cast a bait casting reel....get one without a line counter and one designed for casting because this reel is a TROLLING REEL where the line is let out slowly as it is being counted by the line counter mechanism.

great reel and a great compamyI have been using this real for over a year now, and I fish a lot. With that being said, I really put this reel through the grinder and I have had only one problem with the real. That was the line counter. BUT the company " Okuma " rushed me a replacement part with no questions asked. I think the reason it failed is because I was casting with it a lot. The rest of the reel is great. Easy to retrieve line with large fish on the other end. The drag is very smooth. In fact the drag, for being a star drag is joy to use. I have noticed on other reels that the more drag you apply the harder it is to turn the star. Not so with this one. The star drag is designed a little larger so you can use one finger of the retrieving hand to make slight adjustments with no difficulties. I love this reel. Try it and you'll see what I mean. The People at Okuma really take good care of their costumers.
