Flimsy blank, near useless hook.If you're gaffing while still on the troll your bird hunting skills will come into play with every swing or you'll end up behind the fish. Hook is chrome plated steel, soft enough to not hold an edge and far from even mildly rust resistant. If you actually need a gaff, go for something else. If you want something to hang dock lines with I suppose it'll do.

Not for saltwaterI purchased two of these gaffs, a good value? both of the gaff continually require maintenance and sharpening. RUST these are not stainless steel hooks, at least the two I have are not! They require extreme care after use in saltwater, do not forget to wash, dry and protect them from corrosion. There are not many freshwater fish I need to gaff so they are of little use. The handle will float even the largest size. The 6' is flexible taking extra technique setting the gaff. My buddies always giving me grief if I have to pull one out to use as an extra gaff, due to the rust etc. His gaff is many years old, stays aboard and only gets rinsed if lucky, no rust.

Worst hook everThis Gaff is very pleasing to the eye but that's about it. I had purchased this last season for use when I was alone on the boat. I used it one time and the hook was rusted and pulled out. You get what you pay for.

Not for saltwaterThe hook is chrome plated steel. Rusts quickly, junk. save yourself some money, buy a 12/0 Mustad hook and screw it to wood rod or handle

DO NOT BUYafter over a month of waiting (If you are ordering to Guam don't go standard shiping) I finally got the Gaff and am truly disapointed feels flimsy from the shaft thats pretty much a cheap fishing pole to the cheap hook.

Offshore Angler GaffI ordered the 3' gaff and am very satisfied. It is perfect for kayak fishing and gaffing those fish that won't be released. It is lightweight, but durable. Think of a stout boat rod cut down to 3' long with a sharp hook on the end. You can't go wrong for this price, it's definitely a good buy.

Gaff ReviewI bought the heavy gaff, it is suitable for near shore salt water use. It is not near as sturdy as the aluminum gaffs and is like a heavy duty fishing rod blank with a gaff hook attached. I would recommend it for bay of near shore use, not really and offshore caliber gaff.

Excellent for the priceFor the money you can't beat this gaff. It is strong & well built. I use it for large blue catfish & it works great.
