Q&A
Minn Kota® Precision Onboard Marine Battery Chargers are optimized to deliver the exact charge you require, creating longer run times and extending the overall life of your battery. The chargers deliver a more consistent 15-amp output for the fastest charge. Ensure a perfect charge by selecting your battery type and viewing the state of charge of each bank (also indicates connection status and power status). These digitally controlled chargers utilize a microprocessor design that protects batteries so you can stay on the water longer. Chargers monitor outside temperature changes to avoid over- or under-charging. Precision Onboard Chargers automatically clean and condition your battery during each charge. Batteries are also protected with multi-stage charging and automatic shut-off.

Easy Install and works greatI bought this about a month ago and it works perfect. It was super easy to install and replace my factory charger that went out on my 2014 Triton bass boat.

MK 345 PCI have a two battery (i.e., 24 volt) trolling motor, but my new boat came equipped with a three-bank MK 345 PC, so it also maintains the charge on my cranking battery, too.
So far, so good, but I had some initial problems with the charger not starting the charge cycle on all of the batteries after it was plugged in. Some internet research revealed that the charger is very sensitive to the incoming line voltage, so I bought a heavier (i.e., lower gauge) extension cord into which to plug it and it has since worked without any problems.
The Precision Chargers have an "Equalization Mode" that's supposed to equalize the charge level between the individual cells that make up a 12 volt battery. I've used it once, but really have no idea whether it really does anything. Like I said at the top of this review, so far, so good.

Charger behaves oddlyI bought the 4-battery version of this charger to use with AGM batteries. It has many problems. First of all, it takes more than 10 minutes after you plug in the charger before it actually charges at full power. Before that it is gradually increasing from nothing to 5 amps. Secondly, the lights for the progress of the charging are very deceptive. I connected mine to batteries that were mostly charged, and it took about an hour to say 75% charged. Finally, it lingers for a long time at 75% before it finally says that the batteries are charged. It takes so long that I worry that in slightly different circumstances it may charge forever and ruin my batteries.
It may be that this charger is not working as designed, but I cannot find out. When I contacted Minn Kota to find out the intended charging profile, they told me it was proprietary information.

Plug and PlayI'm on season three with my batteries hooked up to this charger and both are still going strong. I check the water in the batteries in the fall, but otherwise, once you get it wired up, just plug it in and forget about it. Full charge every time you launch. Money well spent for fisherman who push their batteries hard.

Its a keeper!Multi-function, deep charging, multiple battery, multiple style, programmable ( 2 AGM and one flooded lead-cell) charger, by far the best I've ever owned or used. Nothing not to like about this one, especially when sale priced.

Bad chargerI connected two AGM 31 series batteries that were about 30% drained and when I checked five hours later one bank was at 50% and the other was still at 25%. Both batteries tested the same before hookup. Did charge them though but wasn't stopping. Probably a faulty charger but will be returning and going with something else.

great choiceI got some new AGM batteries for my boat and needed a charger for them. I already had a Minn Kota charger and liked the way it charged my wet cell batteries. I like the precision charger better because it charges faster and it doesn't matter if I use a long extension cord or not. it also maintains my batteries better without over working them.
I have a new boat with 2 batteries. I want to add a 36 v trolling motor . Do I need 1 banks for each battery or will 1 bank keep the series batteries charged?
Asked by: MWilliams
You will need a 3 bank system for each battery to charge

this may be a stupid question ,but do you have to plug this charger into shore power or does it keep batteries charged from the alternator og the running outboard?
Asked by: byteme
The Precision Chargers need to be plugged into an AC power source to charge batteries. They do not store a charge.

is this a stand alone or requires a power source to charge battery?
Asked by: Tim123
Converts AC power from an outlet to DC power to charge your onboard batteries. So yes it requires a power source.
