Liberty Safe HDX-250 Smart Vault
The Liberty Safe® HDX-250 Smart Vault ensures that you and the people you choose are the only ones that have access to your handgun. A biometric finger swipe and auto-open door make the vault easy to open for only those who have their fingerprint programmed. (Has 15 fingerprint memory.) The tamper-alert light lets you know if anyone has tried to break in, and a back-up key lock serves for emergency access. The 14-gauge steel body and door use anti-pry technology to keep ill-intending parties at bay. Interior lights make contents easy to see in low light. A foam-padded interior protects firearm from dings and scratches. The Liberty HDX-250 Smart Vault is powered by one 9V battery (included), or the included AC power adapter. It functions as it's supposed to.This is my first biometric safe. I see it's nicely built (and American, important to me), very easy to follow instructions to set it up, the biometric feature is impressive and easy to use, and if I wanted I can fit two full size pistols in it.
Just remember, it has both battery (9v) and AC adapter. You can run it on 9v only, but it takes an additional second to "wake it up", vs plugging it in (with 9v as backup) and it'll open up in a second after swipe (so, perhaps two seconds battery only, I haven't tried yet).
All in all, I recommend it.
PS It does come with keys just in case.

So so...This is a cool little safe that has plenty of room for a hand gun and a few other small valuables. I would have given it a 5 star review if the finger print scanner actually worked. To be clear it will work 1 out of 10 tries, that's not good enough for me. Yes I followed the instructions for entering my print and did it several times as suggested, it still does not work consistently. If I had it to do over I would get one that has buttons to enter a code.

finger scan doesn't workThis is a good solid safe, BUT the finger scan is very very poor. I returned and went with another brand that has a key pad.

Reliable SafeThe biometric setup was easier to understand from video than the user manual. After setup, the biometrics work 99.9% of the time on the first swipe. Well built safe...

Great Reasonably Priced Safe!I purchased this safe today. It is a spacious, well built safe for an entry way, bedroom, etc. We are using it for our concealed handgun safe. I like that it has 2 types of entry whether it is biometrics or a key. At first I was very disappointed with the biometrics, there is a trick to it. The instructions should say lightly swipe your finger across the sensor. Hope that helps anyone that is having issues.

Reliable, practicalI love the fact that I can mount this safe in a convenient location and not have to worry about visiting children accessing my guns.
My only concern is the cycle time. If you fumble the fingerprint swipe, it takes several seconds for the system to reset and allow another try.
That delay could cost you your life.
I use it every day, so fumbles aren't as common as they were when it was new.

won-opnHad mine for several months now. Had to find the video that demonstrates how to program my fingers. Was unable to do it by following manual's instructions.
Everynight I have to do multiple finger swipes to get the safe to open. Because of that, I first open the Safe and then leave the safe open all night. Otherwise if there were an Intruder I would not be able to open the Safe in time.
I recommend using a push button safe because it's reliable. Also, this Safe is just too loud when it opens.
If you want to be ready if or when an intruder enters your home, this Safe won't allow you to do it.

WellWell it works great with a key but it doesn't like my finger prints. The problem with the fingerprints might just be me though, i'm a plumber and my hands get pretty beat up all the time so my prints probably aren't consistent enough. Maybe if your tough day is no more than a papercut then it might be ok I don't know.
Other than that it works fine with a key, it's just for a daily use safe so I don't have to open my real safe everyday.
