Great reelI have the high speed with the flipping switch. Used it for a punch reel and it is smooth and the drag is spot on. Punched a 6 and a 5 this weekend buried in the thick stuff and pulled them out without a bit of trouble. If you like to use a flipping switch this is the reel for you.
Can this reel be used for crankbaits and spinnerbaits?
Asked by: The Barbarian
For spinnerbaits, a moderate retrieve reel of around 6.3:1 ratio will perform adequately. Overall, the gear ratio of a reel can be chosen based on the size and style of the bait being used, but for someone who does not want to buy a specific reel to suit each individual technique, a reel that has a moderate fast gear ratio of approximately 6.3:1 is the best choice. Can this be used in Saltwater?
Asked by: badrice
Even that kind of reels take some damage from salt water over a long time. ... It will help to rinse your reel with freshwater after fishing, but it definitely is not a long-term solution. Generally, saltwater reels are made to catch bigger fish, that is the reason why they have bigger line capacity than freshwater ones.
When you get home from fishing, wet your towel with clean, fresh water. Use the towel to wipe off the outside of your reel, removing any salt or grime that built up over the day. Once the outside of your reel is cleaned off, it's time to move inside the reel. Pop the side plate open so you can remove the spool.
