The Lew's® Speed Spool® LFS Baitcast Reel is equipped to fit any tournament bass angler's criteria, at a price any weekend angler can justify. Weighing just 7.1 oz., this low-profile reel brings all the benefits of Lew's "Lighter, Faster, Stronger" platform. The 1-piece aluminum frame design keeps internal components aligned for smooth operation and improved performance. A removable graphite palming sideplate allows easy access to the 34mm machine forged, anodized aluminum drilled spool; the zirconia line guide promotes smooth distance casting. Precision-cut solid brass Speed Gears and P2 bearing-supported pinion gear technology provide superior gear mesh and system stability, for super smooth, quiet retrieves and excellent durability. The 9+1 bearing system includes 9 double-shielded stainless steel bearings plus Zero-Reverse 1-way clutch bearing; the externally adjustable MCS magnetic brake enables you to quickly adapt to changing conditions. Rugged Rulon drag with up to 15 lbs. of drag power; 95mm bowed aluminum handle with custom Soft Touch paddles; audible-click bowed drag star; external lube port. 7.5:1 and 6.8:1 retrieve models feature a standard drilled spool; 5.6:1 model has a high-capacity dimpled spool.

Best $100 reel hands downFor one, this reel comes in a variety of gear ratios which is nice for pairing the right speed retrieve for your various bass fishing needs. Secondly, this reel is very smooth and has a wonderful drag that has held up to many bass and even some 20+ lb carp. Lastly, the construction is great and you can tell it has been built well. That is why I use Lew's on all my bass rods. In all 5 stars and the best $100 low profile baitcasting reel hands down

QualityQuality construction at a reasonable price. As long as the proper adjustments are made, birds nests are very rare. When used with braid it’s quiet and smooth and casts well.

You cant argue with resultsRecently I bought a couple of Abu Garcia Revo X's because they were very well priced and with the specs it was a no brainer. But the handle messed up on one of them and the drag slips on the other. So I'm back home to Lew's and I got this lfs and a tournement mb. They perform FLAWLESSLY. Idk why I ever switched but I can't afford to be out on the water and have tackle issues like that. Lew's truely is the standard and they set the bar. I've fished for 30 years now and I've tried everything under the sun. Crazy expensive stuff and cheap and the Lew's lfs is the best bang for your buck to date

Amazing reel for the price.I bought one of these reels several months ago and another recently both work amazing. The only negative review complains it birdsnest casting into the wind. Just tighten your brake a click and you’ll be fine. I’ve only been using baitcasters a few months, I borrowed a different model speed spool from a friend and fell in love. Bought a Mach II lews combo and it’s great too but this reel is even better & barely costs more. I’m going to give the abu revo X a try for the same $99 price but I have my doubts it will be as good as my lews LFS. I don’t think you can find a better reel without lying twice as much for a lews tournament pro LFS speed spool. And if you’re going to pay that much just buy a shimano SLX DC.

Solid ReelThis one of the few reels made suitable @ 5.3:1 retrieve for crank bait fishing. Solid smooth reel handles fluorocarbon line well. Easy to adjust.

Lews is smooth...Bought a month ago and have used it 4 times each week catching B.A.S.S. on it using 17lb mono. This is the break point of having a real nice reel for $99 or just an ordinary real for about $50. Just turn the reel and you’ll see why! Smooth as the high end models costing much more. Just spend the extra $ now and you’ll be glad in the long run!

is the lew's team laser slp speed spool reel physically smaller than the lfs model ?

Thanks for your question. Each of the Lew's Speed Spool LFS Baitcast Reels is marked with a model number, and the dial on the side (which controls the MCS magnetic brake) is numbered from 1 to 10.

Can this reel be used in saltwater?

This reel isn't designed for saltwater but it can be used if you take the proper precautions. If you want to use this reel in saltwater, you need to be sure to rinse it thoroughly with freshwater every time you're done fishing. This won't completely stave off corrosion but it will prolong the life of the reel.
