Lew's finally builds a finesse reelIt takes a high level of technology to make a finesse baitcaster and Lew's finally stepped up their game with this reel. The light shallow-capacity spool, effective and easy to dial centrifugal brake system, and low friction comes at a price, but allows you to cast weightless Senkos, 1/4 oz Rapala Ripstops, 1/10 oz Ned rigs, and weightless flukes with good distance and accuracy. I use 20 lb Power Pro braid and have pretty much retired my spinning rods and reels. Only need one set up for bank fishing or exploring new water on foot. It is also strong with a rigid frame and powerful drag for power fishing or hauling in a big fish. Another application is all day fishing adventures. It is feather light, ultra smooth, small to palm, and has high gear ratios, resulting in elimination of fatigue. Down sides are the round knobs which you will either tolerate, get used to, or hate. At this price, two sets of interchangeable grips would have been good. The other down side is the high price which hurts the value. You could almost buy two Quantum Smoke S3 reels which is another great finesse all around reel but with much higher value. Another comparable reel is the Shimano Curado 70/71. All three are great finesse reels, but if you want to build an arsenal of several combos with one brand/model of reel, I would recommend the Smoke S3 because of the oversized spool technology for lower casting rpm, higher line capacity, and excellent value. Trade off is that it is not as light or as small or as pretty as the Lew's.

Great for light luresVery nice reel especially for light lures love the braking system very comfortable in the hand
What dictates whether I should have 30 inches/turn or 33 inches/turn?
Asked by: ODCC
Thanks for your question! Per the manufacturer: Depends on the presentation you are going for. 33in/turn is more for flipping and pitching and getting fish out of cover as fast as you can.
