Rated 5 out of 5 by KiKuYu from Update on previous review After carrying my 84M Hunter everyday for two weeks I've learned a few things. Now understand, when I'm in the woods, the rifle is in my hand, the sling is in my pack. I'm mostly still hunting and a lot of my shots are like flushing a pheasant. I am in an area of very tough terrain, steep, rocky, brush, and briar. This rifle was in hand for 12 hours a day in some kind of chilly conditions; 20's and 30's. There were a lot of days where I didn't need gloves and I noticed that when I would change the rifle from one hand to the other the rifle would warm the hand that I had moved it into. I actually had to stop for a bit and look that phenomenon over. I know, it's a fairly silly thing to be pondering while hunting but; "Huh, that's odd." went though my mind. There is no steel or aluminium contacting your hand when you're carrying this rifle. The stock material warmed up under my hand an then transferred that heat to my other hand when I'd switch the rifle over. Huh... I'll have a lot of fun trying to figure out a way to test if this will affect accuracy or point of impact. I doubt it does. Another thing became very clear. This rifle is simply a joy to carry. I mean wow, just wow! Sure, that's not at all eloquent but it is hard to explain how this experience spoiled me. Two weeks with this handy rifle has made me judge my others unfairly. I picked up my CZ 527 yesterday and thought, "Man, this thing's heavy!" It wasn't heavy! It just wasn't the Kimber Hunter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mule Rider from Exactly what it should be~ I won a 308 Kimber Hunter at a Friends of the NRA raffle benefiting youth shooting sports. I put Talley low bases on it with a Zeiss scope. It sighted in very easily and is MOA or better with factory premium ammo. It is light, tough, handy. The magazines must be loaded in the proper staggered manner, and placed into the rifle back end first. Absolutely a joy to hunt with.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Colby1320 from Loose stock screws and muzzle break I purchased the 84M in Octane 02 camo stock, the rifle shoots nice and like the interlock hornady's american whitetails bullets in 129 gr (6.5 Creedmore). I could not sight in initially until I found that the screws holding the stock were loose!!, I tied them up and was able to achieve 1" or less groups at 100 yds out of the box. I recommend to check your rifle out of the box and make sure all screws and muzzle break are tied up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TheOriginalAKbowman from 6.5 Creedmore is very accurate When I bought the rifle, I also bough 4 different boxes of ammo. After only 20 rounds through, the rifle started to produce 1/2 MOA groups with 2 FACTORY loads!!!! Both the Hornady ELD-X 143gr and the Federal Premium TC 120Gr are shooting 1/2 MOA 3 shot groups. The Core-lokt & Sierra Game Kings were shooting around 1 - 1 1/2 MOA w/ the GameKings being the least accurate (out of this gun). I mean, it's not the smoothest, or sexiest gun you will find but for the cost -- this thing is really sweet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WestslopeJR from Great rifle after a lengthy break-in I purchased mine in 6.5 Creedmoor to complement my other bolt rifles from .223 to 30.06, thinking this would be a good all weather alternative for medium game cf. my walnut stock Model 70 in .270 or Model 700 in 30.06 that have been my main hunting rifles. I added an illuminated Leupold VX-R 4-12x 40 mm scope, still a light package. Accuracy from the Kimber was highly variable with 7-8 different kinds of factory ammo through the first 60-100 rounds. Now with over 200 rounds it reliably shoots 3 shot groups of 1 MOA or better at 100 and 200 yards with several hunting rounds 120-143 grain, but 5 shot groups open up a bit. It is so light that my hold has to be very intentional from field positions. The bolt and trigger are not quite as smooth as my .270 (yet) but they continue to improve with time. Recoil is minimal despite the light weight, it is a pleasure to shoot, and the all-weather features make it good for packing in the mountains here in Western WA. For me this is a keeper and I expect to get a lot of use from it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jherald from Great Factory Rifle Kimber has seemed to be hit or miss in their rifle's shootability. They are either superb shooters or they just suck. I purchased a Montana 84M in .308 years ago when they first were produced and I could not get the rifle to shoot better than 3 MOA with any ammunition whether it was factory or custom load. This rifle however has been a shooter. Sub MOA with the first loads I fired through it at 100 yards. Shoots MOA at 300 yards. Barnes TTSX Factory 168 gr. Shooting with a Leupold 2.5-8 VXIII. I believe the grouping would shrink with a higher magnification scope that has adjustable parallax setting. Small scopes are hard to shoot great at longer ranges. It's not quite as light as the Montana 84M but I prefer the detachable magazine on this rifle over the blind magazine in the Montana or even the Mountain Ascent. The additional weight is negligible at best. The trigger is crisp on mine at 4 lbs. even break with no slop or creep. I would prefer 3 lbs. but 4 is fine and I won't be adjusting it. I mounted Talley lightweight mounts on mine and was surprised to find it had an even and true action, the base rings did not require any lapping at all and the scope fit true in the rings. I don't know if Kimber is paying more attention to the specs on the actions but I am surprised by how this rifle is made overall. Fit and finish of the stock is OK, as to be expected in a plastic molded stock. They did well in using a honeycomb pattern internally in the stock to cut weight and keep a reasonable amount of rigidity. The tan color on the stock is a thumbs up for me for hunting. Out of the box great rifle, no need for any custom touches to this Kimber rifle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Hydnby from Worst buy on the shelf this year I purchased a Kimber Hunter chambered in 6.5 creedmoor. I could not be more disappointed. After trying 5 different bullets and weights ranging from 120 gr to 140 gr I have yet to achieve better that a 2" group at 100 yds from a bench. I only achieved that group once (Barnes 120 gr TSX). I have tried Accubonds, Partitions, Hornaday GSX, Berger VLD.... and most of them are lucky to get 3" groups. I purchased 2 Tikka T3's this year that shoot sub MOA no problem with several different loads and factory ammunition. Plus they are a couple hundred dollars cheaper. Even the Mausers I built this year way out shoot this Kimber. I'm not even going to sell this rifle, because I don't feel right doing so. I'm going to take the action and build something that shoots. Save your $$- pass on this rifle.
