Perfect for chasing trout, steelhead, smallmouth and even walleye in lakes or rivers, the Ultimate Woolly Bugger Series Lures feature premium quality hand-tied woolly pattern, three brass beads, gold-plated willow blade and a trailing treble hook attached with 30 lb. test stainless steel wire to do the trick on half-hearted, finicky strikers.

TOP PERFORMERThe Joe's Flies Woolly Bugger Elite in Black, has been my top performing spinner this year. I change up with all the different brand of spinners on the market and the Joe's Flies Woolly Bugger Elite in Black, has been my go to spinner. I have also caught trout on the Brown color. I have not tried the Olive or Chartreuse, so I can not give a honest onion on those colors . I will have to order more of the Black and try the other two colors as well. I would like to see this spinner, with a single hook as well.
Pros: Blade Spins well and I get good distance with the spinner.
Cons: Hooks are a little weak. I broke both hooks on the spinner, but I did get a lot of trout from the use. You will need to be more gentle removing the hook from the trouts mouth, then with other spinners on the market. The Tailwalkers from Nebraska, that are stocked in our local lakes in Southern California put up a good fight, so they can be rough on jigs and spinners.

Joe's FliesI have had great success with Joe's flies. In particular the willow series Joe's special which I caught a 5.5 lb large mouth bass and a Pickerel. The black woolly bugger has caught: White and black crappies, blue gill pumpkin seed, large mouth bass, yellow perch and a tiger muskie. Other colors that have worked well are the blue and the purple. The only problem I have with the product is that it will corrode unless you spray them down with WD40 after use at the end of the day.

Great for brown troutI've been using one of these in Norway, and it's been great for brown trout in remote little lakes. The trout have been eating ants and tadpoles lately, so the black color matches well to the natural forage. Any size fish will hit this lure. I've caught trout from 200 grams up to 1350 grams(3 lbs). I'm looking forward to trying it on smallmouth bass in Canada next summer.
Pros:
Blade spins well at very slow retrieval speeds
Trailing fly can be swapped out
The 4 hook points really stick the fish to the lure
Cons:
Doesn't cast very far
The 4 hook points can really stick your net to the lure, too

Love Joe's FliesMy son and I love them! We have caught lots of fish on Joe's Flies wading Anthony Creek near White Sulfur Springs, WV. Trout, smallies, red eye, blue gill, etc. They're the best of both worlds ... high quality fly behind a premium spinner. Many of the fish were caught on the trailing treble hook. The quality that goes into the product really separates Joe's from the rest. With all the patterns available, we use them all year long. Neat to know Joe's Flies are made here in WV. If you get them, you'll be hooked too!

A Must HaveWhen all else fails to catch trout or pan fish throw a Joes black or brown Woolly bugger and prepare to be amazed. If you fish for trout you must have these!!!!!!

Woolly Good LureI've had a great experience with premium elite joes flies and then I saw these, they work just as well, probably better. I still prefer the woolly buggers with colorado blades but these get the job done as well. Green colors get me the most bites on these.
Added plus since these are so bushy they hold spray scents really well, I use garlic or shad bang fish attractant and its a killer combination with this lure

These are different types of spinners. The Blue Fox is weighted, the other is not. You have to use different techniques with them.

I have not caught that many fish with any of my Mepps spinners. I have caught more fish types than I ever imagined with the Joe's flies.

very best color for trout?

Each fishing location will be different; even each trip to the same area might have different results so there isn’t really a “Best” color to use when fishing. One color may work better one time but not as well the next time you fish. So, when selecting a lure color take a look at your surrounds (landscape and wildlife) to determine the color of lure to use. If the water is dark and murky (or stained) use bright and/or fluorescent colors that can draw the fish’s attention to the lure. If the water is clear, look around if the area and use colors which blend with the surrounds. If the area is rocky use a brown, tan, or a similar color. If there is grass and weeds then use more of the green colors. Each location will be different so try a good range of colors. Thank you for your question.

How do you fish this bait?

The best success I have had is fishing from a boat approximately 40-50 ft from shore, casting toward the shore and either getting a strike as it hits the water or when retrieving over the drop off.
