Best bang for your buckThe instructions are not very good but there are enough videos on youtube to get you going. Once set up and you are familiar with the unit it is easy to discern what you are seeing on the screens. Perfect for jigging lakerrs and walleye and nine times out of ten when pulling blades or Lindy Rigs if you see a fish you generally hook it as you pass by. I bought the ice transducer and it is awesome in the winter. Overall very happy with the portability of the unit and I generally can attach the suction cup to my transom and still cruise at 25 mph no issues.

VERY DISAPPOINTED from
on instructions on assemblyI have heard good things about the product but all reviews I read are bad of the instructions and support.... I thought I would risk it and give it a try. WELL there are zero instructions on assembly of the portable unit I have... there is nothing on line that I can find and a two hour wait for a return call because the traffic is high right now... I would say the reviews I have read are correct... terrible support and very bad packaging... very surprising..

ExcellentI originally got this product because I have a family heirloom aluminum boat that I don't want to put any holes into, so the portable transducer was perfect. Great screen clarity and with lake maps and GPS I am really able to find the structure I'm looking for that will hold the fish I'm targeting. Then winter came around and I got the ice transducer for it, so now it doubles as my flasher which again provides excellent clarity and just puts fish on the ice. It also stores all my way points from open water fishing to double down on in the winter. Well worth the investment, plus your buddy doesn't have a fish finder? Fine, just bring yours along, slaps right to the side of any smooth surface, can adjust to keep your preferred angle wherever you attach.

A capable portable sonarThis was my first new sonar/fish finder in 25 years. My last portable, Eagle Ultra, finally died. I fish freshwater lakes in northern Wisconsin and Canada and need a portable unit for fly ins. I thought it worth the extra expense for the convenience of a built in GPS and I am glad I made that choice. The sensitivity, clarity, and features are much better than my older/last portable. I particularly like the integrated GPS to mark hot spots and use the Tracks feature to control boat position on one unit. This model does not have Down Imaging. I would like to see Humminbird offer it in this type of portable.
Planning on using this as a ice fishing finder. Does it come with an ice fishing specific transducer?

How long does the battery last?
If I am on a remote Canada outpost, how do I charge the battery?
Asked by: Dick54
The Helix 5 CHIRP GPS G2 PT comes with a 7AMP Battery which should give you an estimated 7 hours of use. I would suggest taking spare fully charge battery if you have no way of recharging your battery.
You can view the spare Battery at the following link.
