precise sizingThese balls are round and consistent in diameter. Each round shaves off a small ring of lead when seated in the cylinder, making for a good gas seal. I will defiantly shoot these from here on out. Great accuracy resulting from the consistent size.

Work excellent in Pietta 1858I started using these in both my Pietta 1858 8" target and my 1858 12" buffalo revolvers and they work well. The diameter is much more consistent with the Hornady balls. I tried others and I would get one ball that would shave off a nice ring and the next would barely shave off anything when rammed down. The Hornady balls are consistent in that each one, when rammed in the cylinder, shaves off a nice lead ring which means a good seal and proper diameter for each ball. I noticed this also translated into better accuracy. This company has always been known for quality products. These lead balls are no exception.

Multiple useAfter selling my Pietta revolver, I had a few boxes of these in
451 dia, and didn't know what to do with them. I bought some
MMP sabots and started shooting them out of my Buckstalker,
with Great results. One ragged hole groups out to 40 yards
shooting them with 60-80 grains of 777 loose powder. Please
note that with this load you must use loose powder. They don't
fit real snug in the barrel and 777 PRIMERS will NOT ignite the
load, if you're using 777 pellets. If you use 777 pellets for this load use CCI 209 Magnum primers and clean between
shots.

Why 2 sizes of 44 cal lead balls
44 cal shows .451 and .454 sizes why are there two and which do I need?
Asked by: sangar
There needs to be a good seal when the ball is seated. To achieve this there should be a wire-thin ring left after seating a round ball. As there are irregularities in revolver chambers sometimes going to the larger round ball will guarantee that shaved ring. If a round ball seats with just thumb pressure then there isn't a good seal. This could lead to some complications inc
