Rated 4 out of 5 by deltasweep from Fixed Blade Quality in A Folding Knife Picked up 2 Covert folders, one single edge & one double edge. Both well made(probably the same knife), good quality control, tight lockup, strong safety mechanism, very good feel in the hand. Mine came with a sloppy safety actuator which actually tightened after a few months of use. Double edge turned out to be too much of a liability & was relegated to the collector's bin while the single edge has become a welcome addition for long (hence deeper pocket)pants wear-it just fills my hand well, with deployment fast & solid. For me the mini Covert was a bit to small for my hands so it was dropped from consideration. Another hit from Gerber.

The knife opens easily now, it was stiff the first day or two, but opening and closing it repeatedly was the ticket. I generally carry this knife in my vest pocket during cool/cold weather in the event of emergency. I like the clip, it tells me instantly the orientation of the knife. Concern about the clip abrading the upholstery in my car prevents me from back pocket carry. The knife has done everything I have asked it to do

Rated 4 out of 5 by MitchinIndianapolis from FAST Covert This is my second Covert knife. The first was a mini-covert. It is a great knife for the fact it has a strong blade that keeps and edge. It fits and grips well in my hand. The safety is well-placed for quick deployment of the spring-assisted blade. I like to place the knife in my pocket with the blade end down with the safety placed inward. That way I can quickly reach in, pull it out of my pocket, release the safety with my thumb and deploy the blade in one smooth action. There are two things I don't like about it however. The clip is not placed so I can put it in my pocket as described above. It would be good if Gerber could make the knife so the clip could be located at multiple locations for personal preference. The second it is, it is noisy when being deployed. One can hear the spring - a metallic scraping sound. A manual knife usually has only the click of the blade lock when being opened. Both size knives are great products. If I lose this one, it will be replaced with another Gerber FAST Covert knife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AMadverse from Covert is nice, mini-Covert is better I bought a Covert initially but found that it's size and weight is better suited to an outside pocket on a backpack. I bought a mini-Covert because fits in my front pocket nicely. The design seems to work better if you think of it as an "assisted opening" knife rather than an "automatic" opening knife. Great combination of serrated and straight edge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AMadverse from Easy opening knife I bought the "big" Covert knife first. It has a great feel to it, easy to open and a blade that takes an edge readily. Really nice but it is big. I usually carry mine clipped to the inside of the front pocket in my jeans. While it fits in your hand nicely, it rides pretty heavy in your pocket. I liked the design so well, I ordered the Mini Covert. Ah, much nicer. Same design as the full size model, same quick assisted opening but in a more manageable size. When I'm in the woods, I'll bring the full size Covert. In the backyard, the Mini fits better.
