Rated 5 out of 5 by Stillatit from Easiest to use. I replaced my hds-7 with the new garmin echomap. Every season i had to try to figure out how to use the hds-7. The new garmin touchscreen is completely different. Its as easy to use as my car's garmin nuvi. This is a gamechanger for the industry and the competion is going to have to step up or be left behind!

Rated 5 out of 5 by whiteboy33 from Will be a 5 star unit now I'm sure I purchased this unit on 12-20-17 and I installed it on my boat on 12-21-17. Well due to work I was unable to take my boat to the lake until 12-25-17. When I went to power the unit on it said "Software Missing." I called Garmin who were really great helping me to try and resolve this issue but nothing could be done over the phone or update. No update available because you was so new. They recommend I take the head unit back and exchange it for a new one. Well I did so 12-27-17 and Bass Pro was really nice about exchanging it. Well today being 12-29-17 I took my boat back to the lake and I will tell you this unit preformed outstanding. The touchscreen is amazing when needing to changes screens quickly. All the maps, sonar, down-vi and side-vi look great. I marked fish on down-vi and side-vi and dropped my marker buoy and let's just say I ate crappie for dinner tonight from the mess of them I caught. This unit doesn't miss much in the water or on the bottom of the lake. I would definitely recommend this unit. I can't wait to go back out tomorrow.

Thank you for your question. Per the manufacturer, the Garmin ECHOMAP Plus 73sv Chartplotter/Fishfinder Combo will come preloaded with LakeVu HD maps covering more than 17,000 lakes. The Garmin ECHOMAP Plus 74sv Chartplotter/Fishfinder Combo, model 010-01898-01, will come Preloaded with BlueChart g2 charts covering the coastal U.S., (east coast, west coast, Gulf of Mexico, U.S. and Canadian sides of the Great Lakes). I was looking at a few different Garmin units at BPS and noticed none of them had any depth readings for any RI lakes at all. There was CT and MA lake readings on all lakes. Doesnt this come already in the unit? How can we get this on the units?

The only lakes listed are those that are also in another state, such as CT or MA !

Thank you for your question. The CV52HW-TM transducer does not have a dedicated downward facing element. You can purchase one of the Garmin GT transducers, which does feature a dedicated downward facing element. Garmin Ultra High-Definition Scanning Sonar System, SKU: 2580932 includes a GT transducer. Cabela’s also carries a number Garmin GT transducers.
