There are alot off complaints about these broadheads and the lack of blood. I've experienced just about every outcome with these heads, from a fountain red carpet to a finger length steak. I truly believe like any broadheads you will look at, it is a simple as shot placement. These broadheads do their job wonderfully, you just have to make sure you practice and do yours. I've also read complaints about durability, my experience has been nothing but good. After a complete pass through I hit a stone on the ground and dinged up the blade pretty good. But after some time on a wet stone they come right back. Now on to the last complaint, grouping. My bow group these broadheads perfect now that's my bow. If you have a fast bow you should really be looking for an expandable something more aerodynamic. The increased air speed will send any fixed head astray. So just like your guns find the ammo that it likes best, so with every broadhead keep a smart open mind and remember your set up to find what you need to make a good shot placement and you should have no problem being successful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Questhunter100 from Ancient design, modern performance These are as about as basic as a broad head can get save for an old 2 blade. Its a piece of hardened steel shaped into 3 blades. Humans have been killing things with these types of heads for thousands of years. Why? Cause they work. After reading all the reviews I wanted to address a few of the issues that crop up. There are always strange and bizarre circumstances that are just unbelievable but those are very rare and are the exception, not the rule. First, the claim of a good hit but cannot find the animal. Be honest. If you claim you made a perfect shot through the lungs but the animal ran off and you couldn't find it, well, you did not make a perfect shot and you should not blame the broadhead. Second, no blood trail. This is a hard one. If you hunt you will eventually find that animals that will certainly die may not leave much of a blood trail. A perfect shot through the lungs may leave a red carpet or only a few drops. It will happen regardless of what head you use. Even expandable heads can have this happen. Third, the claim these heads are not sharp. Well this one is simple. G5 montec heads are razor sharp out of the package... unless you bought the practice heads by mistake. If they are dull, then you made a mistake and didnt check the packaging or, and far more unlikely, G5 made a packaging mistake. Fourth, these heads are not accurate. There are so many factors that effect an arrows accuracy. If you have a head that doesn't seem to be accurate in your bow then find one that is. Not all archery equipment is interchangeable. Also archers must recognize that any broadhead will require minor adjustment to be accurate when switching from field points. If you can't get them to group you probably need to tune your bow the these heads or you need more practice. Not shooting well may very well be your fault whether you admit it or not. If you miss its easy to blame the equipment. Its much harder to be honest and admit you missed. Fifth and finally, the claim that these do not penetrate. Ive never had them not pass completely through, and the only time I've heard of them not passing through is if they hit a massive chunk of bone. But if you are hunting with a bow that is less than 50lbs and are shooting at an animal from beyond 40 yards then it may not penetrate as well. Any broadhead is only as good as the equipment and person who are launching it through the air. If you use a low draw weight bow and/or shoot from a long distance and/or hit a tough hide (elk) or bone, even in the best circumstances the head will penetrate much less. Ive shot a lot of critters with the head. I prefer the 100gr. It will drift at long distances but with a little on-the-fly adjustment you can be very accurate. In all honesty I have lost a few critters but I will not blame the G5 since I probably didn't hit it as well as I thought. Ive shot a few deer that left almost no blood and one doe that didn't leave a drop except where she fell about 20 yards from where she was shot where it looked like a scene from a Peckinpaw film. Its the nature of hunting. Bottom line is these are fantastic heads. They are razor sharp, fly well, cut hard and clean and penetrate like no other head I've used. The only drawback that I find with these heads is that they are expensive, but so are almost all broad heads. If, in the end you don't like these heads, switch to something else. But I've seen too many deer, elk, and even a couple buffalo fall quick and clean with this head to just write them off. I love em!

Rated 5 out of 5 by GRHillz from Great Broadhead Shot my 1st deer last Fall out of my 330fps xbow with a Montec 100. Doe went 50yds and dropped. I had no trouble following the blood trail. Wasn't a 'red carpet', but enough to lead me to my kill. Complete pass through, broadhead was still as good as new. I originally bought 100gr HellRazors, but couldn't get them to shoot straight. Didn't have that problem with the Montecs.

yes, should flight even better with a higher speed crossbow. just make sure the bow is tuned in correctly, especially with arrow spine and grain weights.
