Frabill Bro SideStep Insulated Ice Shelter
Frabill tapped the devious fish-chasing mind of Brian "Bro" Brosdahl in designing the Frabill® Bro SideStep™ Insulated Ice Shelter. This easy-fishing 2-man shelter comes equipped with Frabill's 2-door SideStep Entry, which provides direct access to your fishing stations without kicking things into the hole or stumbling over your gear, as an angler is prone to do when dressed in bulky clothing and boots. Built on a lightweight frame with molded base, the Bro Sidestep features tough 600-denier construction with full quilted insulation for maximum heat retention. 2 well-padded boat seats provide all-day comfort, and with its distinctive arctic camo exterior, this well-designed shelter looks as good as it fishes. Total fishable space: 20 square foot. Set-up size: 84" L x 58-1/2" W x 64" H. Pack size: 58-1/2" L x 35-1/2" W x 24" H. Weight: 90 lbs.

Love itI bought one this spring and absolutely love it! I’ve had a frabil ice hut for 19 years and finally decided it was time for another one! I had no problem putting it together!!! If you have any kind of mechanical prowess and can actually read instructions it’s very simple to put together! Love the insulated camouflage fabric and how much room it has! The seats are so comfy, I’m used to sitting on a bucket! Yes windows crack over time, that’s just the nature of ice fishing but they are cheap and easy to replace! Can’t wait to get on the ice and rip some lips! Thanks frabil!!!

Awesome Thermal Flip OverI love the side stepping feature. I can get out and not interrupt my buddy fishing. No moving heater, lantern, finder... The side step feature also allows for using slightly longer rods vs the comparable Aegis because of the squared off front. And it fits in the back of a 5' 1/2" pickup bed.

Very disappointed with quality and usable spaceI researched the heck out of this thing and what I read was terrific. The side doors are great for in and out easily not to disturb lines and heaters. But there are some major shortfalls that will lead me to never spend on a Frabill product again. Here we go...
1. All the windows are cracked. All four clear window plastic is cracked and therefore is useless because the cold air comes in. This happened before I even had it on the ice. Unbelievable. Albeit it was -30 out, it's an ice hut made for the winter. I would have expected it to stand up. I now have to use the covered windows so now I have no light in the hut. Way to go frabill.
2. The ceiling pole connectors are cheapo. The poles that you use to brace in between the frame are really cheap. The ends are plastic and one has already been broken because it's a pain in the butt to take them on and off.
3. The seats are not very ergonomically correct. You can't 'sit' into the chair. Instead it feels like you sit on top of it. I'm going to remove the backreast padding like the other reviewer recommended and hopefully that will make for a more comfortable seat. They also sit quite high. The clasps for flipping the feet out is also not very innovative. The connecting pin already has fallen apart a couple of times.
4. Instructions and setup. Don't even get me started on this. Worst instructions I've ever seen in my life and there's a few thousand parts. Wasted so much time.
5. Pockets and usable space. I certainly echo another reviewer on the usefulness of pockets. There isn't any that you can use but there are 4 pockets. One on each of the back of the chair (useless) and two behind each chair on the back side wall (useless).
All said and done I'm very disappointed and wish I didn't spend the $850 Canadian to buy this thing. I also had to buy a tow bar ($60) the runners ($50) a cover ($85) a couple hooks ($12) and now the Frabill LED light bar because my windows are no longer windows ($50). I'm over $1,200 into this thing. Never again Frabill. Never again.

Expected more from the “Innovators” of frabill.I purchased my new frabill bro at bass pro in Vaughn Ontario Canada about a month ago..I have always had a frabill portable hut .
Products include the 2 man trekker..Awesome Hut . Then I up graded to the frabill 6180 predator, another great hut . I am an avid fisherman and can spend as much as 30hrs a week in a portable hut...
I have had no issues with either hut other then the windows cracking ... But I called frabill and they replaced them free of charge ... But after all these years of manufacturing these huts you think they would have resolved this issue...
How ever they have seem to over look some important details on the “frabill bro stepside” in some areas..
Example:
The front part of the mounting bracket that clips the seat to the sleigh is plastic, not very stable .. All the previous huts were made of steel.. Way more stable .. They lined the seat with so much foam for the size of the seat, that it makes it almost impossible to sit in comfortably.. I just pulled out the foam backing and made it so you could sit in it ..The storage pockets on the tent are so low and out of reach makes them awkward to use...
Window placement in this hut is pretty much useless if you want to look out the windows.
Unless you are 4ft tall... I have already cracked one of the side windows..
On the plus side the thermo tent makes it easy to heat .. Also cuts down the noise inside the hut on those windy days ... The stepside doors are another great idea...How ever I probably wouldn’t have bought this hut if there had have been one set up in the store.. But frabill had never let me down before.
