Fortress Marine Anchors are precision-machined from a hardened aluminum alloy that is as strong as steel, but with only half the weight. In addition to being stronger and lighter than steel anchors, the aluminum Fortress Anchors have sharp edges which allow them to set faster and penetrate deeper into common sea bottoms for incredible holding power. The Fortress also features an adjustable 32º to 45º fluke angle which helps increase holding power in problem soft mud bottoms. Chain not included.

lightweightGreat product but not easily assembled. I thought I'd be able to store this away and assemble if needed in an emergency, but no way to assemble on a moving boat in a stressed situation.

The World's Best Anchor???After using every type of anchor imaginable, including a coffee can filled with cement, I was highly skeptical when I went into my local Bass Pro store and I saw this anchor on the shelf in a box with the title "The World's Best Anchor."
However, my last couple of steel anchors had rusted out and nearly herniated me a few times while using them, so I thought I would give this lightweight aluminum anchor a try. All I can say is that I wish I had bought one years (make that decades) ago. It sets unbelievably fast, holds incredibly well, and retrieving it is a breeze. The ladies and kids can even handle it.
Fortress is the best anchor I have ever used, and there is no close second.

Incredible anchor!I am the captain of charter fishing boat here in Florida and we have used a Fortress anchor several times per day / almost everyday for the past decade or so. It is far and away the easiest anchor I have ever used, since it sets fast and holds firm, and retrieving it is also a back saver. I highly recommend one for any fisherman who needs a dependable anchor that won't rust out in short time, and is easy on the back!

Not worth itIt is true very light weight and holds up well in salt water.The problem light weight calls for more chain to get anchor to bottom.
Big problem using on cape cod where sand is much coarser than Florida the sand gets jammed between flukes and shaft and anchor fails to set.Once it is set it is fine I feel much safer with Danforth type
