Unlucky maybe but i doubt it..Ordered in June for August salmon trip. 3rd day of trip went to cast lure out rod snapped 4 inches below hozzle where the rod goes together. I inspected rod no nicks or scratches that i could see, and i didnt foul anything on my backcast, rob just snapped on the cast.

Broken Rod after second castSorry, this is not on a positive side. I got this rod yesterday and I was hoping to have a great 2 hour fishing session today. After my second cast out, my rod just broke in half. There was no heavy load on it (small lure). It was the most strange sensation I had. It felt like the rod broke under its own casting tension. I sent an email with the pictures to Cabelas asking for a refund. I will keep you posted what answer I will receive from them.

heavy duty rodI bought the Fenwick Eagle Salmon/Steelhead Spin MODEL#EA96M-MS-2 in May 2014 and cough a countless number of kings, stealheads, browns, lakers, bass, musky... couple days after after I bought it, I went over the rod with my car by accident but it only got couple scratches and a dent on the handle, I even bent the eyes of the rod couple time and put them back straight without braking them. I still heavily used it until 2 weeks ago, it broke 23" below the tip while fighting a king. I sadly can't find the receipt so I'm screwed... It was me only rod for 3 years and I go fishing very often mainly at the lower Niagara river (strong current). I really like this rod. I'll get same one ASAP!

broke the first time I used it.I fish a few times a week and I wanted a long rod so I bought a Fenwick 8'6". well when the end broke off I figured I would replace the tip and have a little stouter pole. Problem is it broke so far down that the only thing I could use it for would be like catfish and carp and such because there was no flex in it. I don't fish for them.

works well for the priceI have used this for pike fishing and salmon fishing. Had a few salmon on but haven't landed one yet, only been out a few times with it. Casts very nice with a bit of weight, loads well. Very light and well balanced for all day fishing on the smaller rivers here in Michigan. Matched this with a curado 301E and am very happy with this setup.
