What an inventionThese eyelets have been a great addition to my fly fishing box. They make it so much easier to add a new leader! I recommend these to any fly fisherman.

Handy little gadget!I started fly fishing when I was around ten years of age and can only remember using a knot to attach fly leader for the first couple of years. After that I have always used no-knot eyelets.
A lot of folks reviewing this item have mentioned having trouble inserting it into the end of their fly line. I was taught to simply get it started in the fly line and then gently tap it in using a teaspoon while keeping the end of the fly line straight - never a problem!
I guess I have been using no-knot eyelets for 59+ years and "YES" I highly recommend them.

difficultHave used similar devices years ago with no problem. These have an offset point that makes it difficult/impossible to insert more than 80%. Tried needles first to make the hole and that worked fine but inserting these with the offset point they will come out the side as you try to force them into the line. And yes I used the recommended size.

Wow!A bit of a challenge for old eyes and fingers. But, I tried jerry's suggestion and used a pin to make a hole in the 5W line, but it was too big to go far enough. I wound up taking on of the eyelets and squeezing the barbs down and used it to make a pilot hole. I made sure that I went as deep as I needed by sizing up against a good barb. Then I replaced the pilot barb with a good one. That worked for me.

Works goodI like these for the fact that they enable me to use a knot that is much tighter than a fly line to leader knot. This allows the leader to be reeled up through the guides much easier and smoother than with a conventional line to leader knot. This is a big help with long leaders when landing a fish. I was skeptical of these and the possibility of failure(pulling out of the line) but thought I'd try them anyway. I don't recall ever having one of these pull out of my line although I have never caught any fish bigger than a couple of pounds while using these so I can't say how they would perform with larger fish. I haven't had any problems using these and they make re-tying leaders easier.

Good PurchaseI have been using Eyelets on my Fly Rods for over 50 years. Glad to find that you carry them as most stores do not.
I purchased 2 sizes. The smaller size , installed on a friends new fly rod. I am coaching him on Fly Fishing. He is 84 years old. I am also coaching my Grand sons [7 to 12 yrs]. I started at age 10 and at 74, still love Fly Fishing. There is nothing quite like it.
Thanks for the good service.
