Rated 5 out of 5 by DragoonArmorer from Excellent Training Tool for New Shooters Got this to help teach my daughter how to shoot the AR15, The lower nose level and no recoil of the 22lr helped her to over come flinching when shooting the rifle. While still using the same controls and weight of the AR15 and not a standard 22lr rifle with different controls and weight Plus using the less expensive 22lr cartridge over the 223/5.56 ammo makes for more shooting time with the rifle. The Conversion Kit works good with standard and high velocity ammo. We fired several brands of ammo in it. The only ammo that we had any trouble (FTF/FTE and miss fires) with was "White Box Bulk Ammo", to be expected! CMMG does recommend using copper plated ammo to help protect the gas system and barrel from the lead. And to fire a few 223/5.56 rounds after using the device to help clean the carbon out of the gas tube. Cleaning the bolt as simple as, wiping it off with some oil on a patch or rag and run a patch through the chamber adapter. I would recommend to pick up some extra magazines for less reloading time at the range and more shooting.

I've shot a few hundred through it and have had minor feed issues that were fixed by oiling the inside of the conversion kit. I've had no double fires and can fill the magazine to the brim without issue. It does shoot about three inches lower then .223 at 50 yards so you may have to have a scope adjustment.

I shot around 50-75 rounds before jamming but then i could barely make it through 10 rounds withough a fail to eject. in addition to not being very reliable, the accuracy isnt as good as your higher end 22 rilfes like the Ruger 1022...

Rated 5 out of 5 by DClark68 from Great Buy I just bought this conversion kit today. Took it to the range and dropped it into my M&P 15. Proceeded to run 300 rounds through the gun. I used Remington 22lr 36 gr bullets. Did not have a single miss feed or miss fire. Cycled perfectly every time. I had just as much fun shooting this gun with the 22 ammo as I do with 5.56 ammo. It is like having 2 guns now. I used the pop up sights for the 22lr and the scope for the 5.56 rounds. Just slid the scope off of the rifle, mounts and all so it will hold the zero. At 25 yards I was hitting 2 inch groups with the pop up sights and not being very steady. I will be doing a lot more shooting with this conversion kit in the future.

The zeros will be different. I use two sets of flip up sights zeroed for the different rounds.

Will this kit fit a norinco t-97?

Per CMMG, these kits are designed for conventional AR-pattern rifles and therefore are not likely to be compatible with more "unconventional" designs, such as the Type 97; you may want to contact Norinco directly if you're interested in a .22 conversion kit for that particular rifle. Does the 22lr really cycle BCG through each round?

I know many have already stated this works great, so indirectly my question has probably already been answered. But specifically, I wanted to know, will the 22lr actually have enough 'oomph' to cycle the round through automatically? Or does the operator cycle through manually? Any guidance on ammo quality, e.g. subsonic versus supersonic stingers? Thanks all!
