Good, but expect to give them some TLCI am a girl scout leader and I have been canoeing for many years. These paddles are flawed when you buy them; rough grips and what not. But we remove the finish, paint them and re-seal them anyway, so when all is said and done, they end up being quality paddles that last for years. I've had mine since 2006 and it's still in great shape, been on many adventures with me and will last for many many more.

Good paddle - with a little touch-upThis is a good paddle, which becomes better with a little attention from its owner. Initial workmanship leaves a little to be desired. However, some careful sanding took care of my issues. As delivered it was good looking and had a comfortable oval shaft shape. The top handle, though well-shaped, was rough; this is where I did my sanding. The paddle was just fine after that.

you get what you pay forbought 2 of these when i bought my first canoe a year ago. i was excited to get on the water and do some fishing and messing around but was low on funds so i bought some paddles and set out. shortly after i bought them i noticed that i was extremely tired after a day of paddling, and was struggling with some of the currents i was in. figured it was because i was new to paddling and kept pushing on. now i know its the paddles themselves. after using a friends paddles i was amazed at how much lighter they were as well as how much more water they were moving. these paddles from bass pro are a terrible paddle design, and extremely heavy. the grip finish is rough, and the blade moves almost no water. even with proper care, both blades are beginning to delaminate. i would recommend spending a little bit more and get a good paddle that will last longer like a bb arrow (good) or a bb sun burst (amazing). grey owl also makes wonderful paddles. i will most lIkely be burning these or decorating them for wall art as that is all they are really good for.

Basic paddleBeware, this looks like a broad-bladed paddle in the photo. It is not. A very narrow blade on a pretty well made paddle. I had to sand down some roughness in the finish on the top grip, but you can't beat it at the price.

paddleThe paddles I bought were not the best quality. One had to be shipped back because it was sent out damaged! I only need them for back-up if electric motor fails. You get what you pay for.

Great in my kayak!I purchased a 3' paddle to take along in my kayak while fishing. I use my kayak paddle to get where I am going put it away when I get there then use the 3' paddle to turn and position my kayak or to troll along the shore it sure beats dealing with the long kayak paddle when your trying to fish. I also like that the paddle in made in my families home town of Calhoun City Mississippi. I call it my Calhoun City trolling motor. It has made a big difference in my kayak fishing more pleasure and fishing than fighting that long kayak paddle.
I've just been given a 14' canoe. What would be the ideal paddle length for this size canoe?
Also, I'm not sure whether canoe length or body size is more relevant when choosing a paddle size. I'm 5'10'' and 180 lbs.

it really depends on your comfort level with the length of the paddle, whether you are sitting or kneeling in the canoe, bow, center or stern paddling position and seat/gunwale height. i myself am 5'11 250# and use a 56" paddle. i usually paddle from the stern or center positions, and my seats are right below the gunwales. my canoe is an emotion wasatch 13'. best way to know is buy a paddle and try it out (or borrow one from a friend or kayak/canoe shop). many kayak and canoe shops have "loaner" paddles so you can test them before you buy. id recommend getting a good lightweight paddle from the get go. they are more expensive, but worth their weight in gold
