Easy install; easy operationBought these bipods after not being able to get a good rest while hunting in a burned area and missing a 4-pt mule deer buck. The bipod is very easy to use, my test shots at the range were quick and accurate. And, my first hunting opportunity with them was a successful shot that I had to make quickly on an 8-pt whitetail buck. I had to quickly move positions and readjust the bipod leg length on one side due to uneven ground and was able to do this in a matter of seconds and make the shot.

Don't take it huntingTook this out on a couple trips and ended up turning my rifle into a tent peg because it fell off completely. Figured it was my mistake, so I came home, re-mounted very carefully, re-zeroed after the drop and it happened again while hunting. Shame on me.
Will be investing in something with a better design because this just doesn't work out in the bush.

Good Sturdy BipodWell built and easy to install. Own several of the 6-9" models and have had no issues with them. I've been using them at the range during my weekly visits with different guns and they do the job as intended. The adjustable legs and pivot are easy to adjust.

The bipod is good but i would only recommend it for a range gun. It seems to loosen itself after a few round of .308 though which can be a nuisance if hunting as it might shake, not setup properly or, if your not paying attention, fall off completely. Again, however, on a range this is completely manageable. Just check it for tightness before and after firing.
It is very simple to install and take off for cleaning. I installed this without any tools or instructions.

No problems. Plenty of value.Using the 9 - 13 and13.5 - 27 inch models. Easily attached and secured to my Tikka T3 bolt action. Longer model does not extend beyond barrel, safe to shoot in up position. Steady. Easy to adjust. Three shooting sessions, nothing loose, fine support. Pivot feature is worth the couple of dollars more for the final tweak. All worked as advertised. I don't see a reason to spend two or three times the money for another brand of bipod.

It.s good for the moneyIt works fine and it looks really solid. I recommend it. The 9 to 13 version might be a little to tall... for prone position.

BipodFalls off / disconnects at forearm swivel. Tried tightening, but rifle dropped, twice. Lacks smoothness, when deploying.
Thank you for your question!
This bipod requires a sling swivel stud to mount on your rifle, so it won't natively be compatible with standard MSR-style picatinny rails. However, if you want this or a similar bipod, I would suggest purchasing the Caldwell Bipod Adapter for Picatinny Rails as well (our SKU 1905119): essentially this is a rail-mounted swivel stud, which would then attach to the bipod.
I hope this information helps!

how does this bipod mount to the rifle?
Asked by: bsorad
It uses a clamp system to attach to the sling swivel stud found on most rifles. It is very sturdy and takes seconds to remove and attach. It also has a slot so that the bipod and a sling can be used at the same time.

Can you add a sling to this?
If I get this it will be using my sling stud. I really like having a sling so I was wondering if there was a place to mount a sling on the bipod like I've seen on other bipods.
Asked by: TastierOak
Yes you can use a sling with the bipod attached still.

Plan on using out of a deer blind
Has anyone used these out of a deer blind? Also, any problems with installing one on a Cooper 243?
Thank you
Asked by: LAV1
They require a front sling stud to mount onto the front of the forend.
In a blind the legs might not extend long enough to prop you above the window, so you may need a box or table to jack it up.
Excellent for prone shots, longer legs for sitting or squatting.

will this work with a pump action rifle?
Asked by: redneckhuntr
The XLA attaches to the forend of the rifle by means of the front sling swivel stud. The bipod incorporates an alternative sling attachment stud.

As long as your rifle has sling swivel studs on it you should be able to use this bipod.

Will this bipod fit on a new Ruger mini14?
Asked by: thor86
If you have a DOWNWARD pointing sling stud on your foregrip, then YES.
It will not fit a FORWARD facing sling stud (like on shotguns)
