Cabela's Tactical Tat'r Kickstand Turkey Vest for Men
The Cabela's® Men's Tactical Tat'r™ Kickstand Turkey Vest for Men incorporates all the refinements you asked for, from a cooler, increased-airflow back panel to a larger, expandable game bag. We even added a kickstand so you can create a comfortable place to sit, no matter where you roam. Patented Speed Seat™ technology features a rapid stow and deploy seat that quietly flips up and down in a flash without fumbling. The 3-layer, 3"-thick Memory Tech seat will have you feeling like you plopped down on a pillow. Sit back and you'll instantly feel the new Couch Cushion™ back that utilizes raised, closed-cell, foam-padded mesh panels on pressure points to support your back. Individual mesh back panels also allow air to circulate between your back and the vest. Wide, padded adjustable shoulder straps distribute weight evenly and prevent back and shoulder fatigue. An adjustable sternum strap and 2 waist buckles allow a totally adjustable fit. The right side of the vest has 3 zip pockets with glove-friendly zipper pulls. The flip-down slate-call workstation safely secures 2 friction calls and up to 3 strikers. A tethered alligator clip affixed to the inside of the pocket holds sandpaper or a scouring pad. Cord stays hold the pocket open at just the right angle. A second flip-down mesh pocket stores extra batteries or incidentals. Another vertical, zip Cordura® nylon-bottomed side pocket makes a perfect holder for pruning shears. At the top, reverse-coil, zip horizontal and slash pockets store maps, gloves, or shells. The left panel of the Cabela's Tactical Tat'r Kickstand Turkey Vest for Men holds a horizontal Friction Fit™ box-call pocket complete with elastic chalk pocket, silent-close flap, and adjustable drawcord. On the upper portion of the vest, an attached mouth-call wallet fits neatly into an elastic pouch. It also has a D-ring lanyard attachment. A mesh pocket is practical for accessing locator calls. Another reverse-coil, zip horizontal pocket provides more easy-access storage. It also has 2 spacious, zip interior mesh pockets and a 1-qt. mesh water-bottle pocket on the side. An enlarged, attached, lined, bloodproof game bag with adjustable capacity can hold decoys and your bearded trophy. The game bag has 2 quick-release buckles at the top for easy access. This Cabela's turkey hunting vest comes with a blaze-orange patch that snaps on and off for safety when traveling in the woods. Made of durable 60% polyester/40% cotton. OSFM. Imported.

For optimum performance and comfort, adjust the seat-adjustment straps before heading into the field. Some of the straps around the kickstand frame may require rerouting. In order for the kickstand frame to function properly, the connector strap between the metal frame and seat must be properly adjusted. This is important because the wearer's weight—which utilizes the nylon webbing strap—holds the frame in place to provide back support.

Comfy seat.Great vest. Very comfortable for run and gun hunting. I have not had any issues with the kickstand. My only complaint is that the strap that connects the middle of the seat to the vest is too short and the webbing slips out of the buckle.

Awesome vestI absolutely love this vest, wish I would’ve bought it sooner. It’s got plenty of pockets for my calls and gear. The cushion is comfortable and I love the kickstand. I highly recommend this vest.

Two years and failure.I still like the vest as I can sit anywhere however, the stand legs are now not adjusting. I cannot tighten them in the field so just leave them long. Also, I'm not that heavy at 155 lbs. but one of the legs has bent. When this one finally bites the dust I'll go with another brand of kickstand vest. Cabelas, you can do better than this!

Nice in some ways, frustratingly bad in others.First and foremost, I'm not a turkey hunter, but rather, a predator hunter. So I may not have the same priorities as some. I purchased this about 7 months ago, and have put LOTS of field time on it. I honestly have a love/hate relationship with it. In some ways, its excellent for my purposes. In others, it's absolute frustrating, poorly thought out design.
-The flip down seat is wonderful for cold weather hunting. Last winter I quite literally froze my butt off sitting in coyote stands in the low temps. Frozen dirt gets painful to sit on after 45 minutes. Not an issue with this vest. That alone makes it worth it for me.
-The side zip up pockets also have the option of using the simple hook & loop set up to keep it closed. Nice for keeping the noise level down when chasing critters with sharp ears.
-The back storage pouch and various pockets are very roomy, and can easily carry my shooting sticks and calls from stand to stand with ample spare room.
-The flip down seat is almost IMPOSSIBLE to clip back into it's upright storage position without REMOVING the vest in the field. This is due entirely to poor design. The female end of the clip attaches to the vest frame in a position that requires the wearer to awkwardly reach behind their back, one handed, and push the clips together by feel because you can't really see it while wearing the vest. I'd recommend fixing this by relocating the female end to attach to the vest further forward (such as the thick seem on the forward side of the nearest pocket). OR by ditching the clip altogether, in favor of the same hook & loop setup already utilized on the pockets. Either would make it worlds easier. This point in particular is my biggest complaint about this vest.
- The clip that attaches the seat to the metal frame of the vest (when flipped down) is an old school, backpack style, adjustable clip, just like the ones that go across the chest. This is flat STUPID, because as you sit on the seat and lean against the frame, ALL of your weight is basically held by this single little piece of adjustable strap. Over time, it simply works loose and comes completely undone. So far, I've had the seat completely DETACH from the rest of the vest in the process of sitting down FOUR times. This means that before I can do any calling on that stand, I must first remove the vest and reattach the seat. By that time, there's very little chance of success. The easy fix: Ditch the adjustable strap and clip altogether. Put a permanent sewed strap on it instead so it can never come detached. I see no reason that I would ever want to remove the seat, and the amount of adjustment available currently is of no use.
-Finally, again with the seat.... sitting down is awkward. A nice hand strap in the center front of the seat pad, that the hunter can grab and pull up between the legs, keeping the seat securely in sitting position as you go down, would be awesome.
- It's a noisy vest overall. You have to be extra careful to sit absolutely still when an animal is near. The slightest shift in weight creates a surprising amount of noise.
All told, its a decent vest with a few major flaws. If you can catch it when it's on sale, it's worth the cash. However, I cannot in good conscience tell you that I'd buy it again. If you're going to spend the cash, I recommend going with something a little better thought out. This one's still got a ways to go.

Lay clearKick stand would not stay rigid when I leaned back. It just collapsed over and over again and I went on my back every time. Glad I was in my living room. I sent it back. Junk.

It’s not a 1 Star ...Pros: has a kickstand, has good pockets for calls mostly, good seat pad. Well constructed.
Cons: stand limits access to back main pouch, box call pock is too low and you make a cluck every time you bend over, no shell loops anywhere, legs don’t adjust to swing back enough to use on hilly terrain
I used mine on 3 separate turkey hunts for a total of 12 days.

Good and BadI've been in the woods with this vest all spring. I mostly enjoy it, but there are some annoyances.
First and foremost the kickstand is great, the material is rugged and well made.
The seat cushion is soft, but I really struggle with the best method to deploy and stow it. After a few outings I have it figured out, but feel it could be better designed.
As for the vest, besides the seat my biggest complaint are the pockets. They're just not as well thought out as even my older cheap vest. No real good pockets for slate and glass calls. and only one real "large" pocket in the front. Side pockets are tough to access while wearing as well. I think they could do better.

Cabelas got this onrle rightA vest with more options then a lexus suv. Vest is built well. Comfortable. Many options that can be adjusted for the "sit and wait" hunter or the "run and gun" hunter.
What i would change:
How the seat folds away. The seat cushion is a bit cumbersome to fold away. It doesnt secure well while in the storage position. I would/will add a button or magnet to back of vest that better secures seat to vest. It kind just "dangles" back there and bumbs the rear of hunters legs while walking. Simple fix however.
Love the aligator clip lanyard that holds the sandpaper for pot calls.
Also would make one other change to how you access the game bag in back. Its very difficult to reach back to add items to this game bag (ie, decoys).
Lastly, i would also make the seat/cushion with a zipper so that it could be unzipped and foam insert can be replaced once it wears out.
Otherwise, a very well crafted and thoughtful design.
Can you put the kickstand in the regular tactical tatr 2
Asked by: Birdslinger
No, you can’t add the kickstand frame to the regular Tactical Tat’r 2 vest. The vests are constructed differently to accommodate the back stand..

how do the legs work? can you lock them when they are extended?
Asked by: David Zolliecoffer
They do not lock in place. Your weight pressing against the webbing holds the frame in place.
