Unfit for purposeFeels solid. Seems like a good knife design. Felt sharp out of the box. But...
Poor craftsmanship:
* No effort was made to smooth out the grind marks on the blade. Very coarse. They remind me of the teeth on a file.
* Those teeth go all the way through the actual edge of the knife, forming very small serrations.
* There was a flaw in the grind in the tip area on one side of the blade, producing a smaller angle there than all other areas of the edge.
Ergonomic issues:
* You definitely notice the edge of the liner lock bearing against your index finger when gripping the knife. Probably no big deal.
* The flipping lever doesn't provide sufficient grip for long enough to reliably flip the blade fully open. I loosened and oiled the blade pivot, but this didn't resolve the issue.
Biggest problem: Poor blade steel!
Box cutter blades hold an edge and resist damage better than this knife does!
I sharpened the knife on a Work Sharp Ken Onion sharpener, 20 degree setting. The edge had none of the factory serrations when I was finished, and was sharp. I subsequently used the knife to extract a product from some particularly stubborn retail plastic clamshell packaging. I had to slice through two layers of plastic sandwiching cardboard. When I was finished, so was the blade's edge. Totally mangled. Curled, dulled, damaged enough to require running the edge over some coarse grit to grind out the damage.
No knife I've previously owned, no matter the price or country of manufacture, has ever performed this poorly.

My new EDC and Hunting backup.Had been carrying another lightweight EDC that rhymes with "Berber Hair Stranger" that I thought I liked. But then I bought a Vantage with official Boy Scouts of America design etched into the scales for my son. I was impressed with the knife, and noted how much better it sharpened and remained sharpened compared to the other. This one is bigger in the pocket than the thinner one I had been carrying. But the blade quality and blade deploying tab on it quickly endeared themselves to me. And I mean the blade shape is a proven design for skinning game. But I'll just be bringing it as backup for the Replaceable Scalpel blade when in the field. I'd rather use a real blade for things like separating the skull from vertebrae, or popping the hip socket joint in the interest of saving time while field processing.

Great EDCI bought this, as well as it's little brother, and they both are well made and dependable knives. Buck has been making this design for several years and in many "flavours" but the Select models are very good value. The 420HC steel, even though not as robust as S30V, is the steel that Buck uses for most of their knives and with the Bos heat treating, is a lot better than most 420 steels, not to mention is arguably the better choice for all around EDC.
They both are good "flippers" with phosphor bronze washers, so should outlast me as well as whomever should inherit them after I'm gone.
I would definitely recommend this model of Buck knives and who knows, maybe we are looking at the "new" 110?

Great EDC KnifeI looked long and hard for an EDC before I bought this knife (3.25 blade). It's a great knife. Very sharp out of the box, one handed operation, forever warranty and MADE IN THE USA. It feels nice in the hand meaning it feels substantial and well balanced without being bulky. There are other knives out there that are more attractive but if you're looking for a knife to carry everyday that will get the job done, at an affordable price that's made in the USA, then this is the one your looking for.
