Description
Browning BPS Field Pump-Action Shotgun
The reliability of the Browning® BPS® Field Pump-Action Shotgun starts with rigid, dual machined, steel slide bars, housed inside a receiver machined from a solid block of forged steel. The double slide bars eliminate twisting and binding for faster, more efficient operation. The BPS ejects spent cases out the bottom of the receiver so there is no ejection port on either side where a drenching rain can drip into the action, and the bottom ejection and top mounted tang safety make the BPS pump shotgun truly ambidextrous. The BPS Field features a satin finished walnut stock and fore-end, and a matte blued barrel and receiver. A magazine cutoff eases loading and unloading when you need to change shotshells rapidly when encountering different species of game. A vent rib allows you to point naturally and swing smoothly, and the silver front bead picks up easily in subdued light. The BPS Field Pump-Action Shotgun utilizes interchangeable Invector-Plus choke tubes, and a back-bored barrel for dense, uniform shot patterns that down birds at maximum shotgun range. Includes 3 choke tubes.

Have 3 BPS’sI have a 12, 20, and 28, they all shoot great from dove to pheasant to turkey. At this price I think I’ll just get one more, head and shoulders above the 870, to me at least.

33 yearsI've had the Browning BPS 12 gauge for 33 years. One of the best all around shotguns you can buy. I've used it for everything and can shoot with the best of them, trap or birds. 28" barrel. Not sure about the guy who can't hit anything in the above review.

BPS is greatThis is a fantastic shotgun. Made AAA skeet with BPS and it never failed to cycle or shoot. Much better than an auto and maintenance is far less.

Very disappointed in BrowningI bought this because at the time I was shooting left handed until I realized I was right I dominate. Once I realized that I switch to right handed. Terrible accuracy no matter which hand your shooting with. I did not improve moving to the right hand. I shot better with the 870 and more consistent with the switch to right handed. So I sold it and got an 870 for less $$$

Second to noneI bought this shot gun for my son a few years ago. He's put hundreds of rounds through it, dragged it through mud and rain, and it has never failed to impress.
The fit and Finnish is superb and functionality is flawless.
These are by far the best pump shot guns available.
BRowning, the best there is...

Not as indestructible as I'd hoped.I'm a lefty.
Bought a BPS stalker in '94. The action was very notchy. Not smooth like butter. Turns out the twin action bars are positioned a bit off so they would rub pretty hard on receiver during their travel. But reliable. Next BPS was a used hunter model. It was a few years older. It had the older invector choke system instead of inv.+. Got it for my son. We started shooting sporting clays with them. After about 7 or 8000 rounds, the horseshoe shaped piece of metal the twin action bars are welded to broke on his gun. So we grabbed the part out of the stalker model, and that's when I discovered why it had been so notchy feeling. Now his BPS feels notchy.
Next came a BPS MOSG 3.5" BPS. Found out I just can't tolerate 3.5" loads out of a fixed breach gun. And when I discovered that the synthetic stock that came on this model had been molded with cast-on, which is for a right handed shooter, instead of the neutral stock of my old stalker model, I traded it for the BPS Browning Canada 50th Anniversary model.
Not long after, the trigger started to go click, and no bang followed. Sent it away to a gunsmith. He replaced a small spring. Trigger still has same problem. So, the trigger from the stalker model now resides in the 50th Anniv. BPS. and works great. The action on this one is super smooth. And the stock dimensions are a bit different from older models. Comb has a lot less drop. It helps tame recoil cheek slap. The weight is about 12.75 lbs. for any of them. Perfect weight for shooting 3" mags in a fixed breech repeater. I use these guns for either waterfowling or sporting clays. If I hunt upland birds or hare etc, the 20 or 28 ga gets the nod.
And lastly, just recently purchased a 20 medallion BPS. The wood is outstanding. Action feels pretty smooth. But the trigger pull is pretty heavy compared to the 3 previous 12 ga models . I haven't shot it much yet, so can't say how it will hold up, but it sure feels good when mounted. Love the tang safety. Love the engraved receivers. And their clean sides make carrying a lot easier cuz there's no charging handle like a semi has to poke your hand.

Awesome gun!I bought this about 2 years ago it's jammed the shell in the barrel with Winchester shells. I switched to federal and it works the very best now.

Can it be used to hunt deer with buck shot or is this gun just for shooting birds?
Asked by: td11
First, in most states buckshot is no longer allowed for deer hunting. You can find some places that sell the correct gauge slug and choke tube. So yes you can use it for deer hunting.
