Description
Browning BL-22 Grade I Lever-Action Rimfire Rifle
A flick of the hand is all it takes to eject a spent cartridge and load a new one in the Browning® BL-22 Grade I Lever-Action Rimfire Rifle. The BL-22's action cycles with a short 33° lever throw, without your hand ever leaving the loop, making the BL-22 nearly as fast to shoot as a semi-auto rifle while retaining the reliability of a lever-action. The trigger stays with the trigger guard/lever eliminating finger pinch. The receiver on the Grade II model is machined from solid steel, is grooved for 3/8" scope rings, and has scroll engraving. The barrel, receiver, and all exterior metal have a high polished blued finish. A gloss finished, checked walnut stock and forearm accentuates the LR-22's fine lines, while bringing out the beauty of the walnut and protecting it from the elements. A folding rear sight and a dovetailed, steel blade front sight provide rapid sight acquisition and fine accuracy. The tubular magazine is convenient to load, and the BL-22 functions flawlessly with .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle ammunition. The BL-22 Lever-Action Rimfire Rifle operates with the time-tested, 3-position hammer. This is a high-grade 22 rifle for serious small game hunting, as well as training and plinking.

Very Fun GunI have wanted a 22 lever action 22 for over 30 years and my regret was not buying this gun then, it's a great shooter right out of the box, If you are waiting to pull the trigger like I was.. don't..

My first rifle 30 years agoDid a lot of cuttingof lawns and shoveling driveways to buy it. Best little rifle I ever had, put 1000’s of rounds through it. Plinking away with a little scope.. My only regret was getting rid of it.
100% reliable...
22S, 22L, 22LR- never a problem

The Browning BL 22The Browning BL 22 is very pleasing to look at with the gloss finish on the walnut and the very nice bluing on the receiving and barrel. It shoots well and is very accurate. No issues to note after two trips to the range and about 200 rounds through it so far. Just a real quality firearm.

High Quality Cowboy PlinkerIve owned this firearm for a couple years and it has functioned flawlessly. I also love the shorter lever throw over Henry rifles. Perhaps the only negative is that it’s hard to disassemble for cleaning.

The highest possible qualityThe wood to metal fit is excellent. Polishing of the barrel and receiver is beautiful and the dark blueing gives it a mirror like finish. Cut checking is even with no run off lines.
Accuracy was very good with a scope mounted. All my groups were 1/4 to 1/2 at 50 yards. Unlike most lever rifles, the short throw of 33 degress allows you to bench the rifle.
Just outstanding workmanship from Japan. This is way you pay the extra money for a Murkaro made Browning.
My only gripe is the factory trigger weight, which was a heavy, but clean breaking 7lbs. pounds out of the box. After lubricating the contact surfaces and dryfiring(snap cap)200x the trigger pull is down to 5lbs. Going order a spring kit, then polish the hammer and sear. Not a big deal taking apart and there are a few Youtube videos to help the newbie.
The ejection port on this rifle is small. The first bore snake l tried did not fit, but my second bore snake did. You need the weighted end to be 1 1/8", not 1 1/4" of other brands. If you intend on cleaning from the muzzle(not recommended) please get a bore guide to protect the crown.

Beautiful little lever action. If you are going to invest your hard earned money on a lever gun, buy the best there is. Solid steel and engraved receiver. Immaculate polishing and blueing. The wood to metal fit is perfect. Checkering is nicely done with no over run. Recessed target crown and controlled round feed. And the lever only moves 33 degrees to cycle.
The Henry may cost less money, but its quaility of materials and workmanship does not even come close to that of Browning BL22.

Quality RifleI bought this rifle many years ago for about $140.00. Judging by the current price, it is obviously a quality unit. Mine is beautifully made with tight tolerances. The short throw lever means fast, accurate cycling of rounds. Cleaning is not a major problem, just takes a bit of patience. It has good iron sights. With a relatively light trigger pull, it is perfect for a scope as you do not move off target with the trigger pull.

Finish missing? Dings on stock? 2 guns 2 fails?I bought this gun new at Cabela's-(internet purchase) along with a new Browning SA-22. The SA was missing a spot of finish on the stock and the BL had 3 large dings in the stock. Both had to be sent back to Browning-(I left the store empty handed), not sure when I will see my rifles. I suspect they might have been damaged display models sent back to the warehouse to be sent out for internet purchases? I wanted to take them shooting with my kids on my day off work-(Good Friday), but that didn't work out. Very bad experience!
Thank you for your question! These are currently $629.99.

How can you tell if my Browning 22 lever action is a grade 2
Asked by: Al school
How does the lever feel left handed
I know many lever action rifles are completely right handed, and basically I'm not able to hold it left handed. Some lever action are able to be used ambidextrously, even if it says "right handed"
is this rifle able to be used left handed or is it purely a right handed rifle
Asked by: T3chn0
Per Manufacturer - Yes this can be used as left hand, only difference would be the shell ejects out in front of him
