Browning A5 Stalker Semi-Auto Shotgun
The Browning® A5 Stalker Semi-Auto Shotgun may resemble your grandpa's "humpback" Auto-5, but inside Browning has made dramatic innovations making the A5 a fast-cycling, versatile, recoil-operated, modern shotgun. The A5 still has the functional receiver profile the old humpback Auto-5 was famous for that extends the length of your sight plane, aiding in natural sight alignment for quicker target acquisition and more accurate shooting, though now the receiver is built from rugged, lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, making the overall weight of the shotgun lighter than the old Auto-5. Browning designed the A5 Stalker with the Inflex II Technology recoil pad so you can withstand the pounding of magnum loads, a Dura-Touch® coating improves your grip and overall feel of the gun in extreme weather conditions, and the matte black finish blends into the shadows. A vent rib and fiber-optic front site, allows you to take full advantage of the A5's long sight plane with positive swing and follow-through. The A5 comes with sate of the art Invector-DS (Double Seal) interchangeable choke tubes which have threads at the muzzle end and a brass seal at the other end that seal out dirt and fouling gases, keeping the threads surprisingly clean. The long, thin-wall choke tubes, a lengthened forcing cone, and a back-bored barrel reduce shot deformation and promote uniform shot patterns that wallop targets at long range. The Browning Kinematic Drive System cycles the A5 flawlessly with any load 2-3/4" to 3-1/2" without any need of adjustment. The A5's rugged design, combined with all the Stalker's added features, ensures superb performance versatility under all extremes.

The best I have foundEveryone is different, But for me, this is the best shotgun around. I have and still own, the Beretta extrema, The benelli Montefeltro, and several other 12 gauges, This one is the one I shoot with best and have had zero issues. It is light, accurate, patterns perfectly, and has little to know kick unless shooting the 3.5 inch. Even then, it is better than most others I have tried. I started witht he wood and it is a beutiful gun. I get comments on it being a pretty or "fancy" gun often. ( which is nice to hear, but I do not baby this thing, I put it through the ringer)
In full disclosure, I was raised with, and started out shooting the old humpback A5 sweet 16. So that may be why I shoot so much better with it than the others. I dont seem to really need to aim, it almost feels instinctual to me to just pull up swing and shoot. It just fits me perfect.
As far as function, I have not had any issues. On our annual pheasant hunt a couple years ago, many of the other guys semi autos were jamming due to the extreme cold. I didn't have that issue. I like this gun so much, I bought the same model in camo for duck hunting. Two thumbs up from this guy.

Wow!!!!This gun is hands down the best wing shooting gun on the market. I did have it jam when i first shot some 7.5 shot for clays. I broke it down and killed everything on it!! If you use good lubricant it will cycle with no problem. I have shot this gun now for 1.5 years and have not had a jam since the first time i shot clays with it. This gun is the only gun that i have ever had that who ever shoulders it will have the sight line up perfect with your eyes. There is no other gun like it. I put a pattern master choke in it and ducks are getting dropped at 40 yards no problem. I hunt very hard with this gun and it has gone above and beyond what i expected. Thank you Browning because my family mostly shoots browning shotguns and we have never had problems.

Browning - The Best There IsI grew up shooting the old school auto 5 as a kid. So between that and my love for Browning products, it was a simple choice to purchase this gun. I used it for several pheasant hunts and a couple duck hunts initially with no issue. The heavier loads cycled fine but when I took it to the sporting clays range with light loads, it did have a few cycling issues which other reviewers have pointed out. I broke down my gun to clean it and used a good lubricating product on the moving parts. I wish I had done that sooner to give me more peace of mind on the sporting clays course, but lesson learned. It is good practice to break down your gun and clean it from factory anyways. This gun cycles flawlessly now, it doesn't matter if I am shooting the lightest of loads or heavy. If you are looking for an inertia driven shotgun or just a semi-auto shotgun in general, look no further.

Browning A5 3.5” BOTTOMLANDS CAMOBought this shotgun in October 2017. Took it out pheasant hunting a few times ran 2-3/4 6 shot through it with no problems. But ultimately bought it for a snow goose trip i had planned in Arkansas. Well during the hunt i put almost 2-case's 500 shells of 3" and a couple box's of 3.5" through it. I had very few problems i was running a plus 5 mag extension on it over the 4 day hunt I only had to disassemble the gun 1-time on the 4th day for some reason the bolt locked to the rear. I dropped the trigger assembly out and boom the bolt slid forward easy fix. When i got home i totally disassembled the gun removed the butt stock and cleaned and lubed the inertia spring in the stock. I highly recommend you do this when you first get the gun. Because after i did this the bolt cycled smoother than ever. My friend that has an A5 wicked wing confirmed my same thoughts he was having issues with his and did the same thing and ever since zero issue's. Overall a great gun. On the snow goose hunt all the guns had small issue's benelli's, winchesters, beretta's had a stoger's butt stock fall off. However the conditions were very dirty in layout blinds caked with mud and rice stalks. Overall very pleased with the gun and would not think twice about purchasing a second.

Jammed on the first shot...Very disappointing first trip with my beautiful new A5. Bought the gun online and picked it up at the local Cabela's. Comes with a hard case, choke tubes, choke tube case, trigger lock, instruction manual. I cleaned all the factory lube off and applied a light layer of CLP before assembling the gun. While at Cabela's picking up the new A5, My hunting partner and I bought a case of the new Blackclouds (which can be shot with any choke tube). First shot with my new shotgun and it jams...I shot a total of 15 times and had 14 jams. I'm pretty sure it's the shells, since the box of Winchesters I switched to cycled just fine; however, I'm still very disappointed and I will be contacting Browning to see if there's a solution.

Cycle and feed is suspectPurchased the shotgun last year on the recommendation of the salesman. The shotgun has a nice swing, good balance and is light-weight for carrying in the field. I can't get out in the field as often as I want and I am disappointed that after approximately fifteen shells--not even a box-- the shotgun failed to cycle on a pheasant. The load stovepiped and now I can't cycle any shells from the magazine to the chamber. i stripped the shotgun following the manual and did a thorough cleaning and the malady still exists. As mentioned, I am unable to hunt as often as I would like; when I do I want a reliable shotgun. I believe Browning will service and correct this issue. I have read online this issue happens more then it should and that they are accommodating on the repairs. However, the shotgun should function without fault and a repair that happens this often shouldn't be necessary. Try a different brand.
Thank you for your question. Browning does not currently have a slug barrel available for this shotgun.
