The Berkley® Lightning Rod® Spinning Ice Fishing Combo is a versatile matched rod-and-reel setup built around the popular Lightning Ice Rod. The skeleton reel seat of this rod offers enhanced sensitivity with reduced weight; its solid fiberglass blank extends into the foregrip, which uses hidden thread technology to reduce wear and tear on your fingers. The oversized guides are 20 times tougher and 50% lighter than traditional aluminum-oxide guides, and are factory-tested for dependability. The combo includes a system-matched Size 20 spinning reel with ball-bearing drive system, smooth front drag, and reversible handle. Holds 165 yards of 4-lb. line.

Great for it's price.I have used a couple of these rods for ice fishing over the years. I like the rods. They are not top of the line, but for the price they are great. They are good on aggressive trout. We have had many days catching 16-22 inch lake trout, splake, cutthroat, and splake on them.
A slightly larger reel on them would be nice. Great for pan fish and fishing 40 ft or less of water when using braid.

Great Rod and reel ComboPurchased one of these combos last season and it was really great for jigging panfish. Just the right stiffness for jigging small lures. Had to have a second one this season. Great value.

Good pole for the moneyPole seems to be good for the price. Reel seems to be a little loose and flimsy but have had no problems with it yet. It does feel nice and smooth though reeling.

It's okFirst somewhat big fish I caught(6lbs ) the cork handle on top cracked. Other than that it's not a bad rod, you can feel all the little nibbles. Do recommend changing the line that's on it, kept snapping when it was real cold

A great ice rod!This is my second ice season using it and I have caught panfish, trout, and pike on this rod. The largest fish I have caught on it was a 26" inch pike. The reel only has one ball bearing but I was surprised on how smooth the line came out when the pike ran. I had it in the Medium class 28" and it worked fine for jigging small baits for panfish and trout, to using heavier baits and bobbers.
