The Ultra Light Upland Semi-Auto Shotgun, from the Benelli Performance Shop, comes with custom features for enhanced handling, made to shoulder in an instant and point naturally. To keep weight to a minimum, the Ultra Light Upland utilizes a featherweight alloy receiver, a shortened magazine tube and forearm, and a carbon-fiber ventilated rib. Performance Shop upgrades include an enlarged bolt handle and bolt release lever, a lengthened forcing cone, EDM barrel porting, and Rob Roberts Triple Threat extended choke tubes. A Burnt Bronze Cerakote® finish protects the barrel and receiver from wear and corrosion. The walnut stock and forend are checkered, and feature a satin, WeatherCoat™ finish. A HiViz® front sight provides instinctive sight acquisition. At the heart of this Benelli semi-automatic shotgun is the ultra-reliable Inertia Driven™ operating system, consisting of just 3 main parts: the bolt body, an inertia spring, and a rotating bolt head. Though every aspect of the Ultra Light shotgun's design keeps weight to a minimum, the rotating bolt head features steel locking lugs that lock into the barrel creating a steel-to-steel lock that becomes even tighter during firing. Benelli manufactures Ultra Light Upland barrels and choke tubes with their Crio® System, which creates an even-grained, slick surface resulting in less resistance against wads and shot for uniform shot patterns and cleaner barrels. The Performance Shop Ultra Light Upland semi-auto shotgun comes with 3 Crio choke tubes (M, IC, C), and 3 Triple Threat extended choke tubes.

A very nice shotgunA VERY well behaving light weight shotgun! A pleasure to shoot. I received mine (in 12 gauge) a few days ago. I went through a couple of hundred rounds today with no issues. I am quite satisfied with my choice. Considering its light weight, I had braced myself for a good dose of recoil, and I was wrong; the recoil was about the same as an SBE II (I used 2 ¾ target loads). I guess the ported barrel does the trick. The only issue I had was when I tried to adjust the shims and needed to open the stock; that was because this gun does not have its own manual!! Benelli supplied the Montefeltro manual in the box! And, turns out that the stock disassembly is not the same as Montefeltro! Which I didn’t mind, but for the price tag, I expected at least a sheet of paper in the box to highlight the difference! In all fairness, an email to Benelli was quite promptly responded to.
All things being equal in terms of functionality and reliability, as expected from any Benelli, what remains is its VERY light weight (and its undeniable beauty, but that is a matter of personal taste). So, if you want the performance and need it in feather weight and don’t mind the price tag, give this gun a serious consideration.
